Ya the price difference is stupid. You get a lot of light/functionality with the Gavita's HPS that's for sure. Plus the controller option is the ticket imo. I love that thing. It does timer function...heat watch....ramp up and down.....high heat shut off....dimming....soft start.....very nice unit. Controls dozens to hundreds of lights.
Gavita has their new LEDS out now...hehehe. All works and integrates in with the controller and HPS at the same time.
Only one thing with the controller and learnt this today when a customer called. Seem the controller loses memory when disconnected from power. Only thing I can suggest for that is to plug the controller into a UPS.

Yes your 100% correct. I did plug mine into a dedicated computer UPS right away on installation. Mostly to protect the controller from a power surge or something. Then I found out it had no battery for memory..a flaw for sure. So it was worth the cost to protect it and not worry on loss of programing.

Holland I think
China now I think. Well use to be Chinese components but Netherlands laws I believe allow a company to say made in Holland if the parts are put together there even though they are made in China. I'm trying not to support them much anymore as Hawthorne and Sunlight Supply are messing with the retail market here so they can go fuck themselves. Not really happy with Hydrofarm too as they bought out two of the biggest wholesalers, merged them and just messed shit up. Now those two also cant carry GH or Botanicare because they are the same parent as Sunlight.

Also Sunlight Supply is selling Gavitas to "electricians" and those guys are flogging them out their back door and fucking up the market here for stores. LOL I had some guys come in with those Gavitas trying to get warranty. When I found out who sold them I laughed hard, so you don't want to buy from me but when you need warranty you come to my shop, yah good luck getting a warranty from some guy who sold it from their house.

I think when it comes to raw electronic components most of it is china born now. Like you said buy the parts from china ...assemble wherever. Call it made there then. Sad but true.

It’s such a pain to do anything to the plants, like lollypoping or defoliating, hell even watering. If I had a bigger tent like yours I could walk right in and around the plants.

I’ve got a 3x3 tent I use for veg then I tiny little propagation 2x2 tent I use for seedlings and clones. Unfortunately the room I have my tents in has a bulkhead going across my ceiling so I’ve got limited space where the ceiling is over 7 feet.
I hear you with defoliation, even an 8x8 that's packed with plants is tricky. I use 16 autopots, and have 1 spare. Close my reservior valves and use the extra tray to bring plants out of the tent and defoliate 1 at a time outside of the tent. This grow I got lazy, only defoliated the sativa side so my indicas are crazy leafy now. I should probably remove a bunch but they look so damn nice.
Sativa side
5 pots Ambrosia, 2 super silver haze, one bag seed, (2 bluelemon x bagseed are in normal pots with blumats)
IMG_20190111_182319.jpg
indica side
2 pots Bc god bud, 2 Rockstar, 2 blue cheese x god's green crack, 2 blueberry

That's fucked when the supply chain abandons retailer like that. They all want their cake and eat it as well. Selling anywhere they can. Trouble is they are the name to most folks in HPS.

What mini split do you have again? Gavita with a LED...wow
It's a commercial LG setup....5 ton in total I think...forget shit ya know....my brain hurts.
Ya the new gavita led is huge...40 x 40 inches. Maybe I misspoke. It a separate unit from their HPS lights. But you can use it with their other light at the same time...same controller.
