2000w Coco Grow, Skywalker OG/Wookies

Started the training last night. I won’t top the plants until the lower branches have grown a bit. In my experience, if I top too soon, the main growth will just transfer to the highest nodes of the plant unless you allow the lower branches to develop some leaves first.

I want balanced growth between all nodes so I’ll continue to train the top of the plant straight to the pot and then once the lower branches have enough vigor, I’ll cut all the tops off.

The plants have recovered from their over fertilizing in about a day. It didn’t slow growth too much.

The reason I knew it was over fertilization is because the leaves get this weird super dark green, and they also get this neon “fake” look to them. I cut back to a half dose of GH flora series for one feeding right after transplant, and today we go back to full dose.

I’ll likely cut the light schedule back to 20/4 this week as well to allow some stretch so I can easily manipulate branches to fill the screen. I’ll eventually top the secondary branches as well. Once that happens I’ll be about 2 weeks from flowering.

I don't remember being this impatient before. How quick are these things actually supposed to grow? I don't remember it being this slow of a process. I wonder how these plants "size up" to other plants their same age. I suppose they are growing rather quickly.

I topped some of the plants today.

Ill probably transplant the newer clones within the week. Their roots haven't quite filled the solo cups yet.
I also included a picture of what the clones looked like when I got them. Its the last picture, and is probably of one of the worst, but they all looked pretty rough the day I picked them up. And when I picked them up they barely had any roots. I had to keep them in a dome for 2 days before I could even do anything with them. So really, I could call these plants even younger that 15 days, but 15 days ago is when I picked them up. They didn't really start having any new growth for a couple days even.

I suppose I should back off a little on pushing these guys so hard considering they are only 2 weeks old. Maybe give them a light feeding for another week before really making them binge eat nitrogen.

I also threw away another plant today. Showed signs of worsening magnesium deficiency but none of the other plants are. Its unfortunate because that particular plant was growing pretty well until a few days ago and it just seemed to fall off the wagon.

What do you guys think? Are these plants as big as they should be so far? Been years since I grew anything and its like I'm learning patience all over again.

Day 16

Secondary nodes have begun to grow. Quite fast in fact. By the 3rd fan leaf of each node, they all already have 7 blades. One plant looks like it suffered a little bit because of the transplanting. It is droopy and looking like it needs a day between watering for the first week or so. No problem. That plant is still showing decent growth. Hopefully it doesn't get too far behind or it may end up in the trash can as well.

So...the humidifier I bought decided it wanted to stop working. Humidity went from 65 down to 17 yesterday. I live in a very dry climate. I have a new humidifier arriving tomorrow but I can tell the plants suffered from it. The small clones solo cups dried out because of it, and the larger plants stems show minor discoloration (purplish red). Not to fear, I'll have them happy again in no time.

The training of the plants is going quite well. The stems are starting to thicken up. I think that I am going to end up doing 4 of the healthiest Skywalker OG plants under one light, and 6 Wookies plants under the other. The Wookies plants are a little over a week behind the larger plants, which sounds crazy, because those Skywalker OG plants are growing wicked fast.

The one plant that seemed to suffer through the transplant has not gotten any better. It has become spindly and weak compared to the others. If new growth isn't looking promising in a day or two, I fear for its life. And to think that this is the plant that started out the best. Look at her now.

Pictures show the healthiest lady, as well as how they are looking with the screen. I think I'll fill the screen nicely.

Day 20

Plants have entered a true vegetative state. Growth is fast. It is truly wonderful when the plants are so healthy that training them down requires little effort and the plant stressed none. Plants went from solo cups to 5 gal containers a week ago and thick white roots can already be seen coming out of the bottom of the new larger pot. Should have no problems watering minimum twice a day.

Smaller plants are now at day 13. They have well developed fan leaves. I'm just waiting on the lower two nodes to grow out a little before topping these plants.

I am now running 2 1000w 18/6. One light is HPS and the other is MH. I figure about 2 more weeks and then I will switch to flowering. I had plans to veg these plants longer, but at the rate that the Skwalker OG plants growth, they will get too big before the Wookies clones catch up. It seems I will have 4 Skywalker OG under one light, and 8 Wookies under the other.

I'll be using 2 1000w Hortilux once into flowering.

I got my new humidifier. Working well.

Daytime temps stay at 73. 45% humidity.
Nighttime temps stay around 61. 55% humidity.

Once I'm in flowering, Ill likely have the exhaust turning on more often during the nightime period, just so I can ensure there is plenty of fresh air and not as much humidity.

Keep your eyes on this grow folks. This is recreational gardening with love. Its gonna be good.

Plants are acting up again. Growing ridiculously fast but yet again showing signs of over feeding. I’m gonna just back off for a week and let them relax. It seems like this strain likes a lot less food than the last I grew.

With the 2000w covering a 3x6 area, the plants let me know day by day what they think of their food and how they are feeling. Temperature, fresh air, humidity, and light have all been dialed in perfectly.

I’ll begin flowering in a week. The larger plants have been transplanted a week and already have enormous white roots emerging through the drain holes. Main stems are almost the size of my pinky. The plants are now well established and growing efficiently.

The only reason I postpone flowering is because the Wookies clones still need a moment longer to let their roots fill the 5 gal pots. They are a week behind the larger plants in age.

I also moved the lights up about another foot. I want the branches on the smaller plants to stretch a little. They are staying too compact.

With how easy it was to dial in the environment, I’m fully expecting at least 2lbs from this 2000w grow. Especially since I’ll have 2 brand new Hortilux running during flowering.

Just a couple pictures. I’ve got one Skywalker OG plant that is so healthy I’m considering allowing it to keep growing to use as clones for the next grow, but I’ll likely just flower it and buy seeds next time like I used to.

I did some minor pruning last night to allow light to reach the lower branches. Looks like I should have about 20 tops per plant at this point, plus loads of other budsites.

I’ll likely defoliate about a week and a half into flowering. These plants are turning into short bushes.

Approaching the one month of veg.

This month there have been two incidences of plant pain.

Both times it was what looked like “overwatering” or “overfeeding”. Smaller plants are exhibiting a mild magnesium deficiency and growth has been slow this week. I’m tore up the smallest one to see how the roots have done considering this week the plants got topped AND transplanted. It seems the root growth is little to none on the smallest of them. I’ll let the small plants dry out so roots can grow faster and then I’ll return to normal feeding. Same thing happened with the larger plants early on.

It’s amazing how fast the bigger plants are growing. If you take a look back at the post made this past Wednesday you can compare the size of this largest Skywalker OG plant and the change has been astonishing.

This grow has been an interesting one to say the least. I’ve had to account for the fact that the tap water where I am now living is amazing, which I think is affecting how much nutes I’m having to feed. Compared to before where the tap water was higher than 200ppm to start. And the climate here is much more dry and colder than living in the valley. I’ve got these 2 1000w running and I barely need air exchange to handle temperatures. I turned the thermostat switch to a higher setting yesterday to allow the pots to dry out a little quicker and force the plants to work harder on drawing water and transpire. Temps now at 76 during lights on.

Officially one month old. Smaller plants are showing new growth and flowering begins tomorrow.

Hopefully things go well.

Daytime temps now staying around 75 degeees, night one around 66. RH daytime is around 42, and nighttime 60. Once bids start clustering I’ll vent the room more during lights off so RH stays lower.

Day 3 12/12

Smaller plants are filling out nicely and each should take up approx 1sqft of space.

Larger plants are exploding. I just keep pushing the branches back below the net. I’d say they are growing around an inch a day right now. Likely a bit more. They are loving the GH nutrients and the environment is perfectly 73 degrees with constant fresh purified air.

I did move the lights from 36” above canopy down to about 18”. I’m hopeful the extra light will help prevent too much stretch. No heat problems from lights so later on during flowering I’ll probably have them 12” away.

Hopefully these clones have good genes. I’m not even sure what to expect as far as how many weeks flowering will be. The smaller plants seem to be more of an indica variety but the larger plants don’t seem to favor either. We shall see.

I decided my next grow will be another Nirvana Wonder Woman. Really good stuff. Consistent. Seeds.

Day 6 12/12

Plants are growing vigorously. Tucking branches down below the net.

Main stems are bigger than my thumb and side branches are sturdy.

One plant in particular is really doing great. Plant loves it’s daily watering. Giving 6ml micro and 10ml bloom right now.

Day 12 12/12

Plants have gotten huge as expected. They grew within 1ft of the light in about a week. No heat damage or stress but it seems the plants that receive the most light are suffering some sort of slight deficiency. The leaves that are getting the most light are lighter green in color and look like a magnesium or phosphorus def.

I’ll up the nutrients again today. Not quite sure what I’ll go with. I’ve been giving 6ml micro and 10ml bloom per gallon. The largest fan leaves tips are clawing down ever so slightly to suggest too much nitrogen, but only on one plant. The other plants are loving it.

I raised the lights to 24” again so the plants don’t push themselves too hard eating to keep up with the intense light. I replaced the MH bulbs with Hortilux the other day. 2000w over a 3x6. It might be overkill but the plants seem to like it.

So apparently my timer got bumped and it was set to come on for an hour right in the middle of the dark cycle. Not sure when it happened but I swear if I see a single pollen sac I’m gonna throw everything away and just order some new seeds.

I think it may have been when I was messing with stuff last night while lights were on but who really knows how many days the single light came on for an hour right in the middle of the dark cycle.

Day 20 12/12

Plants doing well. Responding a little bit to a higher dose of Calimagic.

As long as everything finishes properly I shouldn’t have any problem getting close to 2lbs from this grow. Seems about average to me.

I defoliated the thicker areas to allow light down to lower branches. Plants are now about 2.5-3ft tall. The training I did during veg worked out wonderfully. Large robust plants with loads of budsites evenly spread out.

Plants have really started to smell. Filter seems to work great though.

Flushed plants with around 2 gallons of extra water tonight. Doubt they need it though. They stay pretty much fully saturated at all times. I’ve been doing 2 waterings a day. Roots love it.

I figured I’d show the results of my grow for anyone who tagged along for the beginning of this journal.

Things turned out decent. I harvested the Skywalker OG clones right when almost all the trichomes went cloudy. I don’t tend to wait for any to amber.

I’ve left the Wookies plants as they still seem to need another week or so.

The Skywalker OG buds are now in jars with 58% Boveda packs. They’ve been in jars for between 2 and 4 days.

Plants are exceptionally stinky and I expect will cure nicely. I’ll open the jars twice a day for around 2 weeks and then every other day for another 2 weeks.

During the last 2 weeks I fed with only Bloom nutrients one week and then flushed with Ph’D water for another week. I usually do this in coco and after a good cure the buds turn out crazy smooth and flavorful.

Dried weight of the first 4 plants is 19.6 ounces. I’ll expect that to drop to around 18.5 as it cures over the next month.

There are 6 Wookies plants which I’m expecting to yield around another 12-14 ounces to put the total somewhere close to 2 pounds.

Buds are trimmed immediately after cutting plant down. Buds spend approximately a week on a screen. Room is 68 degrees the first few days and then 65 until the buds are decently dry. Humidity is kept around 40-45. after that they get jarred up.

I just tried the Skywalker. Pretty potent. A month in a jar and it’s a winner.
