2000 watt scrog and thinking of adding another 1k metal halide! Too much??

just my opinion but 2000w seems like overkill. your screen looks like it's 4x4. i'd pay real close attention to light bleaching. i'm willing to bet your plants at canopy level are already WAY over 10,000 footcandles. maybe look into getting a cheap light meter. either way if those are new bulbs and clean glass on the hood 1 light will do just as well as 2 and save you on electricity.
Well heat is def not an issue, yes those are new bulbs and yes it kinda is a over kill but at the same time more light = more yield and that's what I need... Lol no way am I going down to one light, he'll im considering adding another 1k MH!! Lol btw, it's like 6x6 and I want all my buds to be nice and big so I think I'll achieve that with at least the current set up

fair enough bro. with the video it's hard to tell the size of your net. just remember with lighting...more is not always better. concentrating those lights on the center of that net might is probably pushing the footcandles over 10,000. anything over 12,000 and you really need to keep an eye out for light bleaching. especially later in flower.

Thank you for the advice I honestly didn't even think about light bleaching. Maybe I will go get a light meter. Damn..

make sure you get one that measures footcandles. not lumens. lumens are pointless in marijuana growth. guys run around talking about lumens per square foot and blah blah. google lumens. it's a measurement of light visible to the human eye. plays NO part in growing plants. more important is footcandles and PAR value. and obviously spectrum. footcandles are also stackable so that's why i said you should just keep an eye on them.

Let's say I did decide to add the 3rd light what could be the difference in yield? Would it make more sense to wait untill I had more plants??

i don't think the increased yield would come from more wattage. if anything the mixed spectrum would help. you could do that by hanging 4 veg spectrum cfl's though.

So your saying I could increase my yield more so with cfls?? Could I increase my yield if I replaced one of the hps bulbs with metal halide??

i'm not saying you would increase it more with cfl's. you don't need anymore light in my opinion. you add another 1000w light to that screen and i can pretty much guarantee your plants are gonna get bleached. you are talking about 3000w in a 5x5 area. that's a SHITLOAD of lighting. i'm saying don't waste the electricity and money right now if you don't have to. hang some 125w veg spectrum cfl's and that will do just fine. mixed spectrum lighting is always a plus in flower. hps lights don't have enough blue in them to fully mimic the sun. that's why you see a lot of guys using cmh and led supplemental lighting. my only concern with adding a mh to one of your 1000's that's there already is that you might not see as good a growth on the plants on that side of the netting cause they would be getting more mh than hps. not sure though. try out the cfl's. i think that will work great.
