Ok. This is First Grow, Journal! I just got my veg closet set up. I got eight clones, two different strains, both indica. five days ago. I put them in my bloom room while i was setting up the veg room.
The bloom room was a 4x4x6 plywood indoor box. insulated and covered w/mylar. I have a 4" inline running through a 600w hps, and a 8000 btu window air unit for cooling. also a 8" fan for circulation. The clones were doing ok, except for to have burning on some new growth from light burn, or over fert.
I haven't used any nutes yet. just got the cloned cubes and put them in fox farm ocean forest. I didn't flush the soil before use, so i think that's where the over fert is coming from.
enough of that let's take a look at the veg room!

The closet already had flat white paint. I just got some white wrapping paper, backed it with card board, and framed it around the white exhaust fan. the setup isn't air tight. the old man at the hydro store said it was chill to do that. He said there would be enough air circulation from the room, he said i wouldn't have to bring any air from the outside like opening a window. other than that I have a 6" for air curculation. a t-5 setup with four lights. Any feedback would be great. i appreciate it. how close should i have the t-5's, is my circulation all right?

You want the lights about 2 inches away, even if the plants grow into them a little its OK, just keep adjusting it once or twice a day. You have what 8 plants? how large do u plan to go in veg? I think your ventilation looks good man, temp is the most important factor here. :bigjoint:

thanks brother, my bloom room is sick! just need to learn how to use it! 1st grow newbie, been researching for a year though, this website is sick. found it a month ago! The boom room is 4x4x6. I got a 600w hps cooled by a 4" inline. also in the room is a 8000btu window air unit to keep it cool. also a 8"fan for air circulation.

Oh yea, one other thing. They obviously love CO2 so the time u spend near them is good. You can also use CO2 generators, but for 8 plants I doubt you'd need it. The easiest way is yeast and salt mixed with water using a bubble valve (forget the exact name, search homemade co2).

thanks some guy. but if it put the light two inches away, what light doesn't get to all of the plants?

What is your humidity at with a full crop in the room? I hear the number one cause of loss of crop in flower is bud mold. I bet your A.C. does a nice job of keeping it down though.

if i have to ill stick them back into the bloom room. getting the clones i stuck them straight into five gallon pots, not realizing how theyd fit in the veg closet. i felt chill with them in the bloom box, but it used way more energy. whatever it takes though, of course i want to get the most, best yield. thanks for the co2, DIY goes a long way with me!

Ok, as close as u can while still covering the canopy. I hear since flouros are a little weak lumen wise anything over like 4-6" will cause them to stretch undesirably making bud sites less dense.

someguy- humidity in the bloom room is about 30% yeah the air unit is sick. plants stay about 80* at the tops of the plants when i have the air unit set to 72*

Looks nice i plan on getting a t5 setup like yours to accompany my 90w ufo ,ill be watching id like to know how much you can harvest with about 8 plants in a t5 setup like yours,i want to do a side by side grow with the t5 and maybe some cfls against my 90w ufo.im almost positive the ufo will produce more dense buds.my light is said to rival a 400w hps veg-flowering .so im hoping for the best

for sure someguy, ill try the 4"-6" away, if i get stretch or slow growth, (associated with cfl's), i put it back in the bloom room with 600w hps. I do want a quicker yield.

I just wanted the veg room to keep a couple mother plants, and like 4-6 clones in little pots, with the t-5 on chains i can have the like off-level for different sized plants.

wow indoorsavant definitely want to know how it'll work out with the ufo, that's led right. haven't seen those in action yet. i gotta lot ridding on this, so i was too shy to go the hydro, or led route, yet.

Sounds right on. What type of bulb did you get, you said 600w HPS, is it a hortilux or anything special like that?

how about my plants? these are the two best. I have eight clones, two different kinds. these are the best of each. growing a lot, but all new growth is a shade lighter. haven't nuted yet. foxfarm ocean forest, i didn't flush before i planted the clones. i would start nuting them, but the two clones doing the worst have a little burnt tip new growth. from over fert or light burn. so i don't know if i should flush, start 1/4 strength nute, or just keep watering and input would help a lot, i appreciate it. the second two picture are the clones doing the worst.

light in the bloom rom is a Ultrasun 600w hps house in a 6" glass enclosed Hydrofarm Xtrasun hood, running through a magnetic hydrofarm 600w dual voltage ballast.

Bump, I'm going to flush the two that show signs of fert burn today. Is this a wise thing to do. Appreciate any feedback!
