Congrats on your first grow man! It looks like you've got things coming along pretty well and I look forward to seeing what kind of buddage you come out with : )

Thanks! Your encouraging words are appreciated.

Our feast, including the mashed sweet potato experiment, was a complete success and we ate like kings. We smoked a little more of Gladys. Ruthie needs the light. Yeah, that's it. :finger:

:weed: Even though it was really immature and tasted like ass, I am Thankful for the opportunity to offer and smoke my own grow. My friend humored me and said she got high from it. Yay! Because she's smoked me out so many times when money was really tight for her.

The clones I took 3-4 weeks ago are still trying to flower. They're under 24/7 23w cool CFL, just like their mother was for her veg period so, I guess they'll revert one of these days soon? I'm pretty sure they're not an auto-flowering strain ... if they are, I won't be able to make a mom out of Ruthie, right? I don't think they are, though. Dammit, now I'll have to look because, being a total fucking noob (and a poor one at that), I take nothing for granted. :fire: Anyway, I would guess that the continued flowering in the clones is not the best sign with regards to root development.

Stephen's site looks a little better than it did last summer when I bought my beans. There are still no descriptions though, so, I'll assume these girls are not auto-flowerers and that the clones will veg again. :bigjoint:

Note to self for next grow: top, pinch, and/or FIM in addition to LST'ing. Gladys has been growing up into new reflector.

No, not done, I wish! It's just pruning and the slow, torturous sacrifice of Gladys.

I keep telling myself that Ruthie needs the light. Come to think of it, she seems to be confirming it by fattening up. She has, from what I've read, maybe 2 more months to go! I don't know, they look good but they don't look "done." Whatcha think?

With any luck, she'll make a beautiful Bonsai Mom. My clones still look like they want to flower. They've been under 24/0 CFL and on weak-to-none nutes. Well hell, who am I to stop them? I think I'll stick 'em in there for the hell of it.

ETA: more pics.

5 days difference between these 2 pics.

Yeah, the buds are "only" about the size of a lighter but, they are thickening up and, there are almost 2 dozen tall ones. Lots of little undergrowth buds - this is the popcorn, right?

I can hardly believe these plants have been flowering for 10 weeks now. It might be closer to 11 or even 12 - it's hard to pin down due to my adventures with getting the timer set right and fucking around with gradually reducing the light. For sure it's all been correct though, for at least 10 weeks.

I'm thrilled with Ruthie's progress but, her buddage doesn't look nearly "done" to me. I figure another 4 weeks, maybe. Her leaf tips are almost always just a little bit curled - this means she's getting plenty of groceries, right?

I don't know what's going on here, though. It looks almost like this cola got too close to the light? It is isolated to this bud.

OMG, my girl has buds!

Wow....10 weeks of flowering and you definitely have 4 weeks to go, at least. I just put my durban poison feminized seed into germ yesterday.....seems like that lady is MONTHS out. LOL.

Might be time to add a second strain in the mix...get a little inbetween time bud.

Yeah! Thank goodness DP is one of the faster sativas, huh? LOL

Thankfully, I have the 2 clones - which look to me like they're still trying to flower (even though they're under 24/7 CFL)! I'll get some pics of them in the sun tomorrow so I can get some opinions on what to do.

I have another closet to clean out and convert tomorrow - a friend gave me a beaten up chunk of Panda, of which I can salvage enough to make a curtain.

I pruned more of Gladie today to make some iso oil. Hey man, desperate times call for desperate measures! LOL I've smoked bud of worse quality, though. We used to call it "$50 No-High." Strange and neat how sativa doesn't make ya wanna cough. I'm lovin' it! :blsmoke:

Yeah we harvested a couple ladies lastnight. As we were pruning there were a few little buds that wound up getting clipped off their stalks by accident...so we took the 3 or 4 little buds, microwave dried them and added the finger hash from our scissors. Threw that goodness in the two footer house piece I have. All I have to say is - wow.

For being a first timer my self, definitely a sense of pride copping a NICE buzz off some smoke we grew from a seed.

Congrats on the harvest, skiz! What amazes me is that when I first started, I thought I wouldn't want to touch my babies with scissors. LOL It's easier to leave Ruthie alone because I can see her buds fattening up. Gladys just grows taller, which only forces my hand, right? :hump: LOL

I germed 3 more DP yesterday, and I still have 15 beans left. I would like a more time-friendly strain, too. Maybe Santa will bring me ... some .... what strain smokes MOST like sativa but matures quicker? THAT is THE question, isn't it? :joint::joint:

Ruthie is starting to look buddy. It has been 13 weeks since flowering started so, I'm back to 1/2 tbsp. FNB per watering. If I weren't terrified to touch that timer, I'd start dialing back the daylight hours, too. LOL Seriously, is 11/13 enough, or should I go for 10/14? How about half-nutes and 11/13 for another week, and then a clearwater flush and 10/14 until they say uncle? I keep saying "they." Gladys is still there, what's left of her. She's sticky enough but nothing like Ruth in the buddage dept.

Thanks for the kind words, Steven, and happy holidays.

I have reduced the nutes by half and the hours of light by one. I shall continue gradual reduction of both to encourage a sooner finish because, by the end of this year, these seeds will have been sprouted 6 months and this is supposed to be the fastest growing sativa! I'd planned on cultivating some variety anyway, so I'll be ordering a different strain very soon. The question is, which one? I'm looking for recommendations. Something that grows really fast might beat my current crop. LOL

I have been alternating plain water with half-strength FNB for the last few waterings and getting some expected yellowing because of it.

Does flushing even apply to growing in pure perlite? Probably not as much, right? Also, if this plant isn't ready, I'm probably getting ahead of myself.

The horns of this particular dilemma are as follows ...

...there are some weird "legs" of new growth coming out of the buds. I can't post a pic using this computer and I can't find any pics nor posts reflecting a similar situation. Have I waited way too long? Is she going to seed??

OTOH, there are crystals, not many but they are clear to milkish, meaning it's not ready yet. So, wait some more, right? If this is the case, I'm literally going to have a couple dozen baseball bat sized colas!

New Years Day was Ruthie's 6-month birthday. Pour some sugar on me, baby! I shuddered at a Durban Poison journal by a guy who declared he'd never grow it again. IIRC, his DP project "stretched" out to 9 months? I knew there had to be a reason why all y'all weren't growin' it. LOL

So, what's next? I'm thinking Kali Mist. What do my fellow Sativa "up high" lovers recommend? Obviously, I need something that will make up for lost time.

And, to my left-coast USA neighbors, which is your favorite seed bank? How's Kind? They sell Serious Seeds - are these seeds as good as they say?

Thanks for helping a semi-noob.

from experience hempy bucket and cfls dont mix. Buds come out looking like how yours look right now. Very unpleased with the the time and effort I put in for the crap results I had. I came searching for hempy thinking Ill try it again with one plant, after seeing this Im reminded of why I went back to dirt. Good luck if they dont get sick and die or catch mold from the humidity let us know the yield.
