Thinking of running a setup similar to what is in the picture.

The 5x5 would actually be a stacked setup with the clones/mothers up top and the veg taking place downstairs (both sections will be under T5s). The bottom section would be 4' tall which would leave 3' for the Mothers and clones.

The 4x8 would be the flowering chamber with two 4x4 trays. The goal would be to get the harvests at alternating times with 8-10 week flower times. (so one tray would be harvested every 4-5 weeks). Flowering would be ran under 2 1000Ws or 2-4 600W HIDs.

My questions for RIU are pretty simple:

1. What do you think of the setup at first glance and what would you change? I understand it's going to be a little tight on the left side of the flowering chamber with the wall right there and it's going to be kind of a pain to get around the right side of either room but I'm trying to make the best with what I got.

2. Do you think the stacked setup for the clone/mother and veg sections will be able to keep up with the alternating schedule of the flower room? I'm a little worried about having enough Mothers to keep up with the supply of clones. I figure there will be enough vertical room to veg to ~2 feet tall before switching to flowering and ultimately ending up with ~4 foot plants.

3. Do you think I should run the 2 1000W lights, 2 600W lights or 4 600W lights? If you chose the third option should I get dual-light reflectors or go with 4 smaller reflectors? I'm open to other suggestions as well or any other advice on this.

Oh and the program I used for the shitty little picture is called Sweet Home 3D lol. I figure somebody is probably going to ask about that haha.

Performance, reliability, operating cost.
Personally, for flower, I would only consider COB, CMH or QB light technologies.
Nice diagram.

A pair of these in flower over a 4x8, sweet.

I grew a few years back with a Solar Flare from Cali Light Works and ended up being thoroughly underwhelmed with the performance when it was all said and done with. Bud density was almost like I flowered with T5s. I was just going to cave and go the HID route this time until I could experiment more down the road.

Can you shoot me a link to that though? I might be persuaded to join the bright-pink team again lmao.

Also, I modified the smaller room to give me 5 more square feet (10 if you count both levels). It also gives me a little easier access to the plants since I don't have to wedge myself between the wall to access the right-side.

That was just a random image from the interwebs.
I'll let the guys far more experience than me get into the nitty gritty details.
The 2x4 COB I have uses Vero29 chips, 3k. From rapidled dot com.

Gotcha. I guess I need to do some more research into LEDs again.

I also should have asked about ventilation and circulation. Thoughts on intake and fan placements?

How tall is the flowering chamber?

I've decided on using some sort of tarp (obviously lightproof) for the dividing wall. This will give me a little more wiggle room to get into the smaller room I think and hopefully it will help alleviate the issue of the wall being so close to the actual grow trays.

Here's the most recent revision to my idea. I've also pretty much decided to give LEDs another try so that basically solves the issue in #3.

I would still love to hear some thoughts by more experienced growers about the setup in general though (#1) and this most recent revision has cut into my veg/clone/mother work space pretty heavily so I'm still curious about #2 as well.

Also, sorry for the triple post but I would feel even worse if I started a whole new thread hahaha.

If I were building from scratch I would have the main entry door into the veg room and not the flower room. That way if it's lights off in the flower room you can still access and work the veg room with no worries of stray light in the flower room.

Sadly the building is pre-built and I had the same thought.

The location of the door makes first-access to the veg room impossible unless I make it much bigger.

Does your room already have walls in it or is it just a open 15x7 room right now?

15x7x7 right now. After watching some Growmau5 videos I think I have a new idea but I've yet to draw it up so I'd be interested in whatever it is you're about to suggest too haha.

What's your reason for having bloom room 1.5' away from exterior walls? I'd recommend a 4x10 bloom room in right corner, all the way against exterior wall. Then you would have 3' to move around in once you enter the main room. I'd probably go with a 5x4' veg room in top left corner and a 2x4 for mothers/cloning in bottom left corner. This would give you more work area and use the space better I feel.

Very similar to what I was thinking about last night actually. I'll draw up a new version in a few minutes with the latest plan.

The idea for the spacing was to #1 give the plants a little but more canopy room and better circulation, and #2 to give me easier access to the back of the area.

What style of growing/flowering(trees,scrog,sog,?) are you thinking? Also where do you plan on getting fresh air from?

Any reason why you can't or don't want to switch the veg/flower area?
Well I already know that I won't need as much floor space for veg/clone because I can stack the area. (I did this when I grew before and it worked great.)

Planning on vegging to 18"-24", topped 2-3 times, and then throwing them into flower. Ventilation will come from beneath the building (it's on cinder blocks) so that the air will be a little bit cooler

so 4-6' tall flowering plants, my style! lets see your redesign see what we think. My main setup is similar but only 10x10 room, 1 flower, 1 veg room. No mothers i do clone to clone perpetual grow.

the "^2" represents stacked areas. I'm thinking that I might be able to run the whole 4'x12' area as flower with the other tents running mothers/clones/veg.

Also, the top-right area will probably be expanded to 3'x3'^2.

I'll probably run tents instead of putting up a wall/tarp for this scenario.
