    LED DIY : " Extreme Measures "

Hi, I haven't been on this forum since last year so maybe you got this covered but just in case. It felt like extreme measures the other day when I was repairing my busted 120W UFO for the 2nd time, the first time I removed all the screws witch even with a powered screwdriver took forever, so...

Epistar/BridgeLux/noname: A red LED Under The Microscope - Real and Electronically

Hi, I haven't had the time/priorities has chanced to play with any LED grow light related stuff lately, even thou I have received the Apollo panel I ordered to use in a DIY grow light and 4 blue 10W 30V chips and drivers, and have still not made the 3 module of 4 10W 660nm LED chips...

    Blackstar 240w defect/problem?

I wonder how my 16 UV LEDs with 60° lenses in the Apollo 6's will develop as time goes, maybe I should inspect them after there finished they first grow cycle. warranty yes I had that for a full day :-)

Whats the led equal to a 250 cfl?

I'll bet on 90-140W actual draw if the conditions are optimal and 150-180W if not so, depending on the room size and number of plants, reflection from walls and what LED grow light are used.

LED Grow Light - MultiBlog for All

Hi I made this little bar to further test the concept of mounting the Osram Dragon LED's that are 3-5 time cheaper than a Osram Dragon on a start-pcb, directly on the heat sink with the pressure from the alu-bar and screws. The legs on the LED had to be bend upwards so not to touch the sink or...

Epistar/BridgeLux/noname: A red LED Under The Microscope - Real and Electronically

Hi I was looking at one of those IP67 30-100W LED floodlights housing and thought, that could easily be turned into a big water cooling head for LED chips, make the front plate thick enough and you can drill and make threads without going through to the water. Running 100+ watts on this in...

LED Grow Light - MultiBlog for All

I placed the 2x4 10W 660nm red LED's in the tent, hanging in mains grade wires up close to the front and back. image: Units installed Image: Flash & deep red image: Deep red forest. image: And then combined, and away then went. :-) Lets see what this does...

Designing a new LED grow light system? Help please...

I think we all are right on the subject it's just the standard of measurement thats not invented yet, lumen vs PAR vs LEDPAR.

Designing a new LED grow light system? Help please...

Just to be sure, when we talk about efficiency, its in the conversion from electricity to usable plant light, not lumen or PAR light where cyan-green-yellow counts as much as red/blue. Looking at the spectrum I don't understand how using wattage on that can be equal to the watts burned off in...

LED Grow Light - MultiBlog for All

Thanks, but since this turned into a emergency operation, I forgot all about 'the duel' and just put afford into getting 8 equal sized plants, and I was really treating the plants like to early born, helping the capsule off and cutting the first leafs open to get production going and giving one...

LED Grow Light - MultiBlog for All

I've just finished my second module, and this time placing the vent holes a bit better. It works great with two 12V 6A switch mode power supply's in series there is a draw of ~ 2000mA from both modules giving it a power rating of 24 watt per module, and a combined draw of 48 watts and a total...

Designing a new LED grow light system? Help please...

Are you not missing the radiated heat in the light spectrum from a HPS bulb ? That big IR peak at 770nm is bigger than the blue light, and you don't get that with LED's The warmth I 'm feeling on my skin when I shine 660nm LED lights on it, is not IR but 660nm red converted into heat in the...

Designing a new LED grow light system? Help please...

Beautiful thanks ! So a "red" photon is sufficient to knock off a electron and the left over energy from a blue is converted to heat, then it make perfect sense that more photons is better than fewer hitting harder.

Designing a new LED grow light system? Help please...

In Jubiare's thread there was some of the same talk about the amount of photons, but I'm not convinced that be course blue emit less photons, the fact that they carry more energy is irrelevant, have you seen any evidence that blue is not hitting harder so to speak ? "A red photon at 660nm...

    DIY Modular LED-Light

Hi it looks great ! I especially like the quality of the drawings, and what is this spectrograph images you got embedded in the drawing , very interesting :-) I got these 4 questions when looking at you post. 1. How many mA are used to run the fan? 2. What's the function of BD438 and the...

Testing Hans panel: 56watt Cree xp-e/ Lumiled rebel power==== Let's talk efficiency

Thanks, it looks to be a different driver than the one thats on the images on Hans site, that on looked like a transformer, and not a energy efficient switch mode CCdriver, like the one you got, so that great, and its a standard driver, nothing fancy that can't be replaced if needed without...

Is there any info on the driver about volts and mA, and is it heavy ?

Coincidence or new LED technology trend?

I think the similarities are dictated by a mix of the LED chips voltage and keeping the cost down. Just a simple thing as electrolyte capacitors where a one '470uF 10 volts' cost .3 and a '470uF 60 volts' cost 1.2 And where is made ! ON EARTH "they buy our wood and sell it back to us for 5...

Cheapo DIY Chinese LED grow. 200w

The wattage loss is maybe not much, but the voltage drop is enough for my 2x2x10W chips running directly on a 12V power supply to go from drawing 2*700mA when connected with a short mains cable and down to 300mA when used with a 12ft long one. There is 12.02 Volt and the output of the power...
