    WATER LEVELS in DWC

If the nutrient bath doesn't have enough oxygen then your system is at fault. More roots in nutrients means more buds, simple as that. It's just like soil, except in DWC the water is your medium instead of the soil. You wouldn't grow a plant in a pot, and once it starts budding, dig away the...

Round 2: Extrema & El Monstre DWC Cooler Scrog

I think you should pat yourself on the back then, instead of your nutes! The more I read the more I see that all the nute brands are pretty much exactly the same. Plants take up the nutes they need with ease as long as the PH is in range and there isn't too much of an imbalance. The main...

    WATER LEVELS in DWC

You should run it right at the bottom of your netpot for the whole grow. You'll hear different I'm sure, but this is certainly the best way. Dropping your water down at all only makes cord roots that don't gather any nutrients, they just support other roots and transport nutrients. If you...

Building a RDWC myself. Have questions. Need help, hints!

Totes and air stones is easy setup for sure, but like mushmaster has said, it's gonna be a pain later. More thought into your setup means way less work during your grow. I've also been noticing more and more that air stones really suck ass and made my plants grow more slowly. The roots don't...

    AK-47 1000W Closet Cooler Grow

Icepack worked well, I changed it every day. If I were to do it again I'd probably buy a used water cooler. The kind you put the bottle on top of. You can pick them up used for $20-$30. Little bit of fiddling around and you've got yourself a $20-$30 chiller.

    DWC Scrog Throwdown Growdown 2011

Hey nixusr, You can just see the two valves on the bottom of each cooler in the bottom picture. I attach a hose to them and run it outside and open them up to drain. Then the cooler you can see in the lower left corner, which is my control res, has a pump in it pumping into each grow cooler...

Building a RDWC myself. Have questions. Need help, hints!

There isn't any one way to do this, there are more than a few. The 3 main ways to recirculate your buckets are: A: Top feed on each grow bucket with drain on bottom of grow bucket back to control res. Water level in system stays level at all the times, and drops as plants drink. (this is what...

    AK-47 1000W Closet Cooler Grow

Chopped them down yesterday. Sorry for the lack of pics near the end here, just been busy with other things. I'll snap some of the dried buds when they're done. I'll be savouring and smoking on this for a while, cause it's the end for me. Was a sad day tearing down the closet yesterday, but...

    dwc yeild possibility ?

There are so many factors to take into account. Here are some figures to shoot for though, If I were scrogging in a tent with a 400W I'd be going for about 14 ounces, with a 600, I'd be shooting for about 20 ounces. Those are good solid goals to shoot for, and you can even get more than that...

PH down ok in a bubble cloner?

Never done it, but heard it's a terrible idea and that it'll muck up your res in no time. PH down is cheap anyway.

Wow, weed so expensive down there. Here a quarter is $50-60, has been since I can remember.

Round 2: Extrema & El Monstre DWC Cooler Scrog

I wanna see the buds do that.. You could probably sell a clone of that for big bucks in Cali.. Think of the marketing with half albino buds, nobody would give a shit about purps any more!

Ok, I found Heath's "autocad" plans here for two different systems. I use the one labelled "Setup 2" No "ball cock" (float valve) for me though. I just manually add more water/nutes to the control bucket as it goes down.

What size airpump for 35 gal

Too low reduces plant metabolism and nutrient/water uptake. Lowering temps later into flower helps with going purple quite a bit though. 68-70 is about ideal with a good system that has maximum DO to keep root metabolism rates up. The chemical processes happen faster at higher temps, though it...

How often do you need to change the water in resivior?

Corpse I've seen your posts detailing the issues you've been having with your girls, and aside from the heat getting to water in the buckets, I think another problem you have is growing plants way too big for those puny 5gal buckets. If they were recirculated between each other with a large...

PH down ok in a bubble cloner?

PH down is fine in your cloner, though I would suggest you use 1 type over the other. For PH down you can get either nitric acid or phosphoric acid. For blooming or rooting clones you'd want to go with the phosphoric acid, as the nitrogen in a nitric acid is known to slow down root growth and...

    DWC Air Pump Questions

Definitely can. Too much turbulence causes roots to take up less water and nutes, and even stop growth at a certain point. I had 3 6" stones in 2 5 gal buckets powered by a 45W air pump. Roots came out with a donut hole in the middle and now I've experimented with turning off my air pump in my...

    Still Frustrated

Did you rinse your hydroton really well before using it? The dust can cause PH fluctuation if it's still coming off. Shouldn't use vinegar, it'll bung up your res quick, get some PH down, it's cheap.

you don't have to raise the grow containers if you use a low profile control bucket. As long as the drains are just slightly higher than the water level in the control container. Another way to go is to use a float valve and the level of the system is maintained by the float valve adding water...
