They work well for light odor and whatnot, and I definitely recommend getting a couple as an addition to odor control. That being said, they won't cover the smell of something like a marijuana plant very reliably.

I've seen tons of ghetto hanging and etc done with zip (cable) ties, hot glue guns, and nylon rope. But seeing as you have nowhere to hang them from... Hmm. No idea. Definitely keep your mind open to those things I mentioned though. You can do SO much with zip ties, a glue gun, and some rope. :)
