Making A Tincture

Hey guys I'm not certain if this counts as a concentrate or cooking with lol but anyway, I just wanted to get some hard numbers on my recipe. Firstly in Australia it seems we cant really get high proof alcohol, ive seen the odd 55-60 percent alcohol I think absinthe is 60 but in general ive been to about 5 different big bottle-os and a couple smaller in-store ones and usually the best is 80 proof, 40 percent alc. So firstly will that alone be good enough to extract with and if so - how does this recipe sound.

1 ounce sugary trim, if I don't get an ounce of trim probably make up the difference with actual bud, I have two different strains drying so itd be an interesting cocktail of trim and bud from both
700mL bottle of vodka

Grind all the herb, decarb it, stick it in with the vodka, stick it in a drawer, shaking vigourously twice a day. Probably paint the bottle black too so as to not let light in when I shake it. I'm thinking 2-4 weeks to steep, then just leave the weed in the bottle, itll all settle at the bottom and as far as I know alcohol is a preservative so it wont rot, just keep seeping out THC (please correct me if I'm wrong lol that's why I'm telling you all)

that will work, but it will be green dragon, which means it contains a lot of chlorophyll and other non desirable stuff. if you dry and cure it first, you'll get a lot less chlorophyll, and it will taste a lot better

stronger alcohol will make the whole process a lot faster, everclear (190 proof) does the job in a week or less

oh shit yeah goes without saying dry and cure first lol actually I just noticed I DID say I have two strains drying ;) I want it to taste like weed not hay haha right so lower proof just means I have to steep it longer? I wont get an overall weaker product?

Whats the difference between cooking green dragon for 20 mins on stove and infusing in Magic Butter machine for 4-8 hours? Thats a huge time difference!

I'm currently experimenting with N2O rapid infusion for Green Dragon (N2O is how folks do whippits, it's also used more traditionally for making whipped cream, or fancy culinary foams, or supper quick bitters for cocktails.) You do need some specialized equipment, an isi brand "Gourmet Whip" and N2O cartridges. While I don't yet have comprehensive test results, you can try following your current formula and add an N2O infusion round at the start. I'm pretty sure it will increase potency, or allow you to skip the wait and shake bit. I made a batch yesterday, after decarbing it took all of 10 min to make a decently potent Green Dragon. With that said, I do have some additional ideas to increase potency.
