Well folks, it's that time of the year again...The birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing, and the stoners are toiling in their gardens digging holes, mixing soil, and constructing greenhouses. Yes, Spring is upon us and it's time to get ready to get things started for the outdoor season.

This year, true to the thread title, I will be posting a lot of videos of the garden. Mainly due to the fact that my digital camera eats batteries like nothing else, and the FlipCam seems to be able to squeeze 2 hours runtime out of a homemade lemon juice battery. But for the moment, pictures will suffice as there isn't a lot to cover in the beginning.

I suppose we'll start with the plants...I started my seeds in 16 oz. party cups with a mixture on Jiffy Seed Starting Mix and Kelloggs Patio Plus, and I also have clones that I rooted in rockwool, then transferred to Patio+ as well.

Strains in the mix:
4 x Nirvana's "Blue Mystic" reg
2 x TH Seeds "Heavy Duty Fruity"
2 x TH Seeds "Darkstar"
4 x Bagseed from a batch of outdoor grown in Humboldt last season, reg
1 x Barney's Farm "Dr. Grinspoon" fem
1 x TH Seeds "S.A.G.E." fem
1 x TH Seeds "Burmese Kush" fem
1 x Dinafem "White Widow" fem
2 x Clones from a female of the outdoor humboldt strain
1 x Bagseed from a dispensary in my area, top quality shit
1 x G13 Labs "NL Automatic" fem, and the only auto of the grow

100_1057.jpg100_1058.jpg100_1063.jpg100_1064.jpg
100_1075.jpg100_1077.jpg100_1074.jpg100_1076.jpg

I have 20 babies in pots outdoors at the moment, but I also have several "back-up" seedlings and clones in my indoor setup in case mother nature isnt so nurturing. Or to offset the "regular" seeds when I cull males. One of each of the following seedlings: THSeeds "Kushage" fem, BF "Dr.G" fem, Nirvana "BM" reg. Also like 15 clones from the female Humboldt plant (mother is currently flowering in my indoor DWC setup)

So here are some pics of the ground plot...I'll be growing both in-ground as well as in 30 and 45 gallon smartpots. I've started digging the holes, I have the depth I want, but just need to widen them out a little at the bottom. I have limited space in which to plant in-ground, and I'm squeezing 6 plants into this plot. Hard to scale size from the pictures, but the holes are about 2-2.5 feet deep, and about 2 feet wide. I've just begun the digging, but I'll try to widen them as much as I can.

100_1059.jpg100_1061.jpg100_1060.jpg

And here is some of the soil that I'm going to mix to put in the bottom of my holes. True to "supersoil" form, this nutrient rich mix will only be going into the bottom half of the holes/pots, and I'll give it 2-3 weeks to "cook" once I fill the holes/pots before the plants go in, as well. The guano I'm using is 2-8-2, and also contains 6% Calcium, 1% Magnesium, 1% Sulfur, and 0.1% Iron. I chose the Kelloggs brand of soil cause I've had success with it in the past, and as you can see, the ingredients aren't too shabby.

100_1065.jpg100_1067.jpg100_1071.jpg100_1072.jpg
100_1068.jpg100_1066.jpg100_1069.jpg

Of course, this is only the beginning as I will need maybe triple this amount of soil in the end, if not more, but this will become the concentrated mix that needs to cook for a while anyway.

So that about sums it up for the time being. Hopefully I'll get the rest of my holes dug soon(I have to haul the dirt out in that blue 18 gallon tote by hand, wheelbarrow is just for show, haha), and I hope to get all that soil mixed up soon. But rest assured, there will be videos to come, and I welcome all friendly RIU members to stop by and share the fun!

Looking good good growing. dirrtyd
Hey, you too! I've been following your threads so far, and I know you can do wonders, so it would be very nice to have you popping in every now and then. I still have a lot to do, naturally, but I figured I had finally done enough to start my thread. I was thinking about adding blood meal to the soil mix to up the N, but I have raccoon problems, so I'll probably just supplement with feedings. But yeah, hope to have a good thread for a good grow this year, thanks for stopping by!

Right on dawg, it's gonna be good having all the homies from the CFL section jump into their outdoor grows, like we have a built in support group...haha...looking forward to a badass grow from you this year!

Subbed for sure. RDG
Glad to have ya! Should be a fun little ride, barring some sorta natural or unnatural disaster.

I guess to be true to the thread title, I better post a video on the first page. Haha, here's a vid of the babies before they got transplanted and put outside. The clones are the biguns towards the end of the video.

Okay, so I got a bit done in the past couple hours. First off, I finished the 3rd hole, and dug out the other 2 a bit wider. It wouldn't be SO bad, except I have to haul the dirt off in an 18 gallon tote by hand down a pretty shitty hill to dump it.
100_1079.jpg100_1078.jpg

Next it was soil-mixing time. I started by spreading out a heavy duty "furniture moving pad" from home depot, this stuff is thick industrial cloth. I covered that with the plastic sheeting and loaded it up with dirt...Starting with 4.5 cu. feet, raked it out and spread out my bone meal and guano(with mandatory anti-cancer dust mask, naturally), then a layer of perlite and topped it off with 3 more cu. feet of soil. Mixed it all together and got ready to fill the holes. I'd say in the end it there is probably a 5% perlite content.
100_1080.jpg100_1082.jpg100_1081.jpg
100_1083.jpg100_1084.jpg100_1085.jpg

And then it was time to fill some holes(my specialty ;) ) All in all, I think the first half of those three holes took about 18 gallons of soil each, and considering the top of the holes are a bit wider than the bottoms, and they're half way filled, I'd say they will probably take 40-50 gallons each all together to fill. I had a little left over so I threw it in my 30 gallon smartpot cause I only have the first 3 holes dug currently.
100_1086.jpg100_1087.jpg100_1088.jpg

And lastly, I was using post-it notes to label my plants, but I decided to switch it to something a little more durable since the post-its were getting bleached by the sun already, and they've only been out like a week. So while at the 99 Cent Only store today, I bought a 45 pack of soup spoons and the girlfriend got busy with the permenant marker...Here's the result...I think it's the way of the future! Haha
100_1089.jpg100_1090.jpg

So hopefully I can get to the home depot tomorrow and buy some more dirt, dig some more holes, and keep it going. I figure I need about $100-$150 of dirt still, considering that I used about $35 worth of dirt today. I don't need too many more nutrients to add, since the smartpots are going to be grown with drip irrigation and chemical nutes(possibly DynaGro since it had the micro already in it, and it's concentrated), and the in-ground plants will be all organic. Best of both worlds! Anyway, glad to have more pics to post, and maybe tomorrow I'll have more to update!

EDIT:I should add, this is a 100% legal medical grow...Gotta love the green state of Cali!

Right on dawg, I already popped into your thread to say high! I think a lot of us are going to make the HT Con this year, any we have plenty of time to plan to get time off from work and such...Pretty exciting!

Good Morning Babies!
So I just wanted to say hello to the little ones, and get a vid out there since it IS in the title of the thread...haha...Anyway, here's a closeup look at the little plants I have going at the moment.

You'll notice that the 2nd plant you see, the 2nd Humboldt Clone got the top of it bitten off by something a few days ago...the same thing ate one of my Blue Mystics a few days ago as well, but hopefully it doens't have a taste for weed anymore, or I might have to start the rest of my seeds, lol...Not gonna worry about it, hopefully soon the plants should be big enough to just shrug it off.

Without further adieu, Greetings from the Farm!

I just have to add that YouTube has possibly the worst selection of "Dance" music ever for editing their videos...The music is SO bad, it actually makes me laugh as I listen to it!

P.S. I threw on that banging track just for you ABM, I know how much you like my soundtracks...lol

P.P.S. Just cause I'm enamored by techno doesn't mean I'm a youngin', some of us adults just remember the good ol' days of earth shaking"underground" outdoor raves back in the late 90's, early 00's. Nothing like driving 3 hours to the middle of nowhere to party it up with 100 of your closest friends you've never met!

Awesome vid homie!! Love those soup spoons, perfect idea! All the seedlings look great, except for that top-less Humboldt clone, but they do look very delicious, I don't blame that critter what bit off the top :) . Seriously, everything is looking prim-o.

Haha, I don't blame it either, bugs and critters will do their thing, I just hope not too many more seedlings will fall under mother nature's fury...lol...Soup spoons, what can I say? Another 99Cent Store stroke of genius!

Yeah, the music for that video sorta fits, but not a very good stock to choose from, lol....I'm not gonna stress about the critter that ate the top off that clone, I have a lot more clones I can throw outside if need be. And yeah man, Spoons, I'm telling ya....It's the Way of the Future!

Totally, to be honest I hope the spoons catch on as plant labels...I had a funny thought though, don't they all look like they're lined up waiting for the soup kitchen to open??
100_1089.jpg
Haha, awesome...and I think the song was by some 8-bit artist too, good ear, brother!

Anyway, another day, another hole dug! I had a big pile of dirt, not to mention a wheelbarrow full of dirt in my garden yesterday, and today there is just another gaping maw in the ground...I guess it' about time to go out and get some more dirt. I also almost filled my 30 gallon smart pot...I have 3 more 45 gallon smartpots to fill, they will take a little under 6 cubic feet a piece, so I think I'm going with just the Kellogg's Patio+ and Garden soil without additional additives, since the plants grown in pots are going to be fed with chemical nutrients. A tad bit easier on the wallet as well!

100_1103.jpg100_1104.jpg100_1105.jpg

Stay tuned, more to come soon!

Picked up more dirt this evening...6 more cu. feet of the Kelloggs Garden soil, and 3 cu. feet of the patio+, this should almost be good for two 45 gallon smartpots...they take about 6 cu. feet a piece to fill, but I'm going to fold over the rim a couple inches and probably go with 5.25 cu. feet per instead, since they're going to be on the same drip irrigation setup as three 30 gallon pots. Once I sex my plants from regular seeds, I will have at LEAST the 6 plants in ground, and 3 in 45 gallon smartpots, 1 in a 30 gallon smartpot, and 2 in 32 gallon homemade airpots...So 12 minimum, and maybe a couple in 18 gallon pots as "backup" plants in case of hermies from the femmed seeds, or the wrath of mother nature. All will be within the limits of my legal medical grow guidelines as this garden is for both me and my lady...I just happen to be doing 90% of the work, she does 40% of the smoking...lol ;)
