Great idea for starting a poll Ribbet, however I think the following vote option is unnecessary "Who cares just get a MH/HPS" in fact could damage our possibilities, I personally don't care what some of these mh/hps users have to say, most are going to vote no regardless,, simply good idea or bad idea, would have been a better idea, we want cfl users votes.....

Regardless I'm certain we will get enough cfl users to vote being that there are a lot more using cfl's these days.

So vote people vote, preferably the cfl users:mrgreen:

i think it'd be perfect. not everyone can afford an hps/mh set up right away, or maybe they're growing stealth and dont have the space fer better lighting.

CFL's are great. They may not produce good quantity of bud, but you still get good quality. A CFL forum would be GREAT because I plan on doing all or most of my grows using them. I will find my own way/ways of producing better quantities of bud.

While or goal is the same maybe our views on the issue are different, the reason I added the "who cares just get a MH/HPS" option was because thats what so many people on this site really think, and IMO the reason why the new forum is needed. I really didn't want this to be a one sided poll and would love to hear what ALL the user's think about it. A good debate involves seeing both sides of the issue, and then making a choice. People are intitled to have their own opinions, good bad or whatever.

Sounding good, maybe we should start a thread and get others opinions on a decent name and description etc.. after we get a handful of good ideas we can determine the best to use, possibly via vote or at least we can gather ideas to put something together.

Any thoughts on this?

Right on guys, the only reason i voted yes was because Humboldt has some wicked plants for being under the CFL! Just remember when those CFL's go out, dispose of them properly!

I think it's a great idea. I think a lot of would-be growers might benefit from stumbling onto a CFL section. When they post and get replies from people that say things like "naw, don't bother. You're wasting your time unless you go MH/HPS", John the aspiring grower might decide not to bother. A lot of people out there would love to grow, but are easily discouraged by their budget or space constraints, and a dedicated forum might show them that people who put it together in a worse situation made it out with great results. As far as I am concerned, more people growing = good.

great idea,, cfls done right by me... And I now have mh--hps--floros-& cfls. and I still have nothing bad to say about them, unlike so many people on this and every site like this. Kinda bummed me out when I first came here and read all that crap about not being able to get good bud or yeild,, yeah right,, I proved them wrong......peace........

I'm not really a big fan of CFL's for mainstream "veg and flowering", so leave me out of that whole controversy. But more importantly - Semper Fi right back at ya!!! Oo-rah from the class of '67!

You are definitely entitled to your own opinion I respect that, and by no means do I want to be looked at as a CFL missionary trying to convert the world. I just personally like them and would enjoy a forum dedicated to them, its that simple. Thanks for your service brother may you reap all the rewards life has to offer.

i think even the CFL haters would like the idea since it would get us CFL'ers out of their forums asking 'stupid' questions.

I think this is a great idea. Not all of us have the loot to spend money on metal halides and high pressure sodium fixtures. A forum just dedicated to Cfl's and Flouros is a must have. A must have for the grower on a budget.

actually a 70-150w hps lamp is pretty cheap, around 75$, thats about the price of a good set up for cfls considering youll have to rig up some fixture and then buy some y socket extensions. i checked my total cfl build and it ended up costing the same as 150w hps lamp for about 150w of cf lighting. cfl's only seem cheaper cause you can buy one bulb and run it then keep adding more when needed, thats when it adds up. cfl's do have other advantages though but price isnt really one of them unless you run a micro setup.

Great idea, especially as newbie central is often overloaded with cfl questions. CFL growers are generally inexperienced (sorry to any professional cflers) and it would be a good place to find solutions to frequently encountered problems.
