  • just place it under the light you have for 18/6 - no dont put 2700 near it as thats flowering only... just make sure its watered ( no nutes yet) and under the light ( close as possible - 2 inches away) and wait....well done..
yeah sounds like your wiring - should have put tape around it so no open wires. Im also concerned as whos reading this and who other ppl are on here - like are they undercovers pretending to get info....well we arent that too far away...
did you get your lights? mine are rocketing along now.. about to put them into flowering in 2 weeks when they are 7 weeks old... ( mainly due to grow room size)..what part of oz are you? im hunter nsw...just nice to know areas of ppl i chat too...
Well after smashing my big globe i went back to bunnings and they had a 65watt CFL for only $15... unfortunately they were only cool whites, no warms (there was quite a space there so they may have sold out) :( so I ended up having to spend more money for less watts in the right spectrum...quite annoying. I'd go one of these with a few smaller globes to surround the plant if I were you.

Sucks about your seeds... Gonna get new ones over the net or just find some bagseed?
it is MUCH safer to use 3 prong cords as they have a positive, negative and an earth... thats why its much easier to buy a 2mtr extension cord with the 3 prongs.. ( they are only $4 at bunnings) remember your playing with 240v best to be safest - otherwise i would get an electricians help but thats just another expense so save the expense and get 3 prongs..
    sorry try

    thread is

if your in australia, bunnings have battens (the bit that the bulb goes into) for $4.44 each. I have BC fittings (baynet cap or B22) but will be trying to get the E27 ( screw in ones).. as your using normal cords ( I strongly DO NOT recommend using the 2 prongs plugs as they have no earth) a normal powerboard is fine..
Oh when you asked in the thread you meant the lights....my bad. Anyways your correct. I dunno what a BC clip is, but im going to assume its the the thing the globe goes into. If so, the yea i but 3 of those. Just cut the cord from old dvd player and desk lamp that didnt work anymore (the two prong plug ones), stripped about 1cm of the wire. The globe holder had 4 holes in it for wires to be attached. 1 earth, 1 "other", and 2 "regulars". I just put each the wires into a "regular" hole. Finished! Hope that was helpful...

there is a pic of my set there showing the lights.. just got battens from hardware store and extension cords as well - cut off one end ( not the one that goes into the socket) and expose 3 wires ( aust 240v meant to be done by electrican but hubby was shown by one) wire into battens matching earth, pos and neutral and done...plug into point after putting your bulb in..i can take more pics if you want more...
Hi Smalls, long time no hear :-)... Yes I do have a link to my hydro shop... We all shop on ebay as the shop is situated in Wollongong and they use a courier to deliver... The safest method...

I've been buying hydro for a lot of years... And these guys are the cheapest and best by far... You can either pay by paypal or you can deposit directly into their account, its too easy...:-)

Well I got lights only from Bunnings...its quite expensive, they were: Nelson 48w 3000k CFL (biggest I could find) for $28, 3 Pack Phillips 20w 2700k Spiral CFL's for $14. Also got the light sockets (not sure what they're called) for $6 each I think, then used power cord from old dvd players I had to wire them. Oh and I got an Arlec Surge Protected 24Hr Timer for the lights for about $16.

Thats pretty much it... already had pots and ferts (Manutec Bloom Booster - avail at Bunnings) and what not. And didnt need to buy my grow medium.

I've been back and they now have 42w and 45w spiral CFL's for like $20 each....I would go these over the $30 nelson...cheaper per watt and probably come in 2700k spectrum.

Yeah you could ask at bunnings, tell them you are growing alfalpha or something...lol...
I don't really get into using Flouros too much, I use big lights especially for growing, High Pressure Sodiums and Metal Halides...You can only get these from specialised stores or grow shops or hydro shops. I only use Flouros over my seedlings... There are heaps of CFL growers and Flouro growers who might be able to help you... Go to the Aussie Growers Thread and search there....Keep in touch though...:-)
Hi Smalls, what state are you in? I am in the ACT and my hydro shop is one of the best... If you tell me where you are, I can probably help you procure some items... Glad to help...:-)
