weird root growth

My plants are in day 13 of flowering, day 29 since sprout. I have no signs of sex yet my question is that at the base of the stem right at the soil line i have 4 roots growing out of the base of the stem. Only one plant has it. Why is the root growing above the soil line?

well i took the 70 hps back and went with 4 more 4ft fluoros. the are 3000k 3300 lumens each. add that to the 4 4ft 6500k 3200 lumens i already have for a totals of 320w 25000lumens.

is it possible to go up on the wattage of the bulb, like a 150 in a 70, i know its not safe and against warranty and what not but has or does anyone do this?

My local hydro shop suggested instead of making your own co2 with yeast you could just take some carbonated water and stick it in a spray bottle and when the lights go off mist them with the carbonated water and that the plants would love it, Is there any truth to this???
