CO2 trick

My local hydro shop suggested instead of making your own co2 with yeast you could just take some carbonated water and stick it in a spray bottle and when the lights go off mist them with the carbonated water and that the plants would love it, Is there any truth to this???

co2 does not get absorbed by plants during the dark period. only use co2 when lights are on. while i do not disagree that co2 water would work it would get expensive if you were to use it daily. the alcohol method "making your own with yeast and sugar" will work and then you can supplement occasionally with co2 water. you probably wont get enough co2 from the fermentation method but it is a lot cheaper but more co2 is better than no co2

all the guy said was not to spray it on during lights on bc it would kill the plant, I had never heard of spraying carbonated water on plants before

I have heard of this but I believe it is only to be done with lights on. Be careful what carbonated water you use because some have salts in them. You dont want any excess salts in your soil. It is pointless to put co2 on plants during the dark period.

basicly useing carb water is a waste of money and bull. spraing during light period will burn the plant and during dark the plant uses O2 and not CO2 so there is no point to do it.

stay with sugar and yeast and stop talkin to that fool at the hydro store, he knows bull about growin as it seems!

stuff like club soda has table salt in it. tonic has sugar and other stuff. read the label CAREFULLY and then read it again before you use it.

^^the bad and dangerous NaCl or the MgCl?;) just kidding, but the amount of salts aren't really in a dangerous level. MgCl is also epson salt and not table which is NaCl.
And anyway, i would say we came to the point that misting with carbonated water isn't the brightest idea anyhow.

but a bit cola in your hydro system will give you a nice bust, and north american cola contains hardly any molasses versus mexican, so it won't plug up the rockwool and pumps that easy;)

we had a long discussion awhile back and the best thing we came up with was dry ice, frozen co2.put the dry ice in a small styrophome cooler put holes in it and run a fan to distribute it into the grow area.one block of dry ice has more co2 than a standard {e} tank of co2.i believe the thread was dry ice chemical reaction.anyway its cheap and ive had great results.only works when the lights are on. wasted co2 at nite.

to err is human .to blame it on someone else shows management potential :joint::mrgreen:

another prob w/ misting yer plants is fungus and mold on the leaves, since they are now wet. It also raises the humidity in the room... stuff to be aware of.
