I just pick up a 70w HPS flood light from the home de-pot for 45.99 I know its only 70w but i wanted something not real expensive and figured this would be better than going with a bunch of spiral cfls. I am trying to find some info on lumens and what not and cant the bulb is a polarlites 70w and supposed to last 2400 hrs so it is not a very good bulb but i hope it will work alongside of my four 40w fluoro tubes, anyone ever use any low wattage hps flood lights? is this light worth using or should i return it? i know compared to my fluoro tubes it's great but what about compared to a bunch of cfls???

That light probably puts out between 7000-8000 lumens, it has better light penetration that CFLs, and the correct spectrum for flowering, it does put out a good amount of heat though so make sure you have good ventilation. I picked up a 150w on clearance at Lowes for $20, works well. If you're willing to spend like 20 bucks more you can get the 150w at home depot I think, that'll give you 15000-16000 lumens.

i never saw a 150w hps i will take a look tomorrow and check it out at lowes as well before i hook this one up. i figured the heat would be high, i have them in a spare bedroom with a ceiling fan and an air conditioning duct so i think i can keep the heat low plus i have some fans as well. I was just going to use fluoros but figured for 50 buck why not try it out.
