  • The best prices I have seen are at the Garden Depot.com but they are a bit slow on shipping i guess cuz they have such low prices they only have 3 employees doing orders.

I also use KOOLBLOOM liqud form gerneal hydroponics too. in the last 4 weeks of flowering. Also i put 3 drops per gallon of SUPEROXY (highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide) every time i change out my res.
Make sure you empty your res atleast every 2 weeks and refill it with fresh water and fresh nutes. I do thins more like every week and 1/2 which is prolly better for the plants.

The quadray reflector looks interesting but its huge like 4'x4'. the one I use is called the heat buster max you can see it here (they dont sell it at htg supply). I recomend a large reflector specially if you have 1 light and you trying to max out the light footprint. i use the below one its like 22"x22" square. I put that 1 light in the middle of my 5'x5'x8' room. my grow canopy once full grown has a foot print of about 5'x4'.

or u can always just stick with the batwing reflector in the first link that comes with the light, but but what you will want to do is only loosly put it togehter so you can take the wings on it and spread them open that we you can adjust the spread of your light.
I use this light from HTG supply, you can customize your bulbs and reflector but it adds to the cost. Suposedly these elctronic ballasts use less electricity but put out 30% more light than the non-digital ballasts, and they also do not get as hot. If you can afford it, you should get a sunmaster or horilux bulb to go with it. but those are the top of the line brands, i just started using one of those so the other ones work find too if you cant afford it.

Oh bye the way i was thinking about getting a Lumatek 600 watt digital ballast but i have know idea about reflectors or bulbs. ~ Black SS
Thanks Big P for all the info and great advice. I think of you as my RIU mentor, I just have a few more question about light set up. I already know you use 600 watt HPS but where did you get your supplys, and what brand ballast and reflector do you suggest. Thanks Again ~ Black SS
if you have baby seedlings or clones, start them out on a very low ppm maybe 200 - 300 ppm, then u slowly increase as you think they need it, once they are big enough, you will be able to notice how much water they drank, i put lines on my resuvuar to tell how much water was drunk. be carful to cover all exposed water openings as you dont want to lose water to eveporation this may skew your readings.

the white widow for me never wanted more than abour 900 ppm and their hungryest stage, but evey plant will be differnt even if you buy the same exact seeds I got.

then you pop your nutes in. If the next day the plants drink water and but the ppm has risen, it means you had put too much nutes in there. if they drink water and the ppm has fallen it means you didnt put enough in there,
if the plants drink water but your ppm stays the same, it means you have found the perfect ratio of nutes to water that your plants need at that particular time in thier lives. they will need more or less depending on the stage of growth they are in,

oh ya and to your first message, i would recommend feminized white widow seeds from Greenhouse seeds co. atleast thats what made those huge colas in those pics. Which I think you can order from The attitude seed bank. Its prolly safer to have them sent to a friends house or dont have anything growing if you deliver them to your house just to be extra safe.

I just use DWC deep water culture. I think you will find it the easyest. All you do is full the tub with water and nutes. As long as you have your air stones in thier with the air pump pumping air through them, thats all you need, its like your soil is water, and water is free:grin: the plants just sit in net cup on the lid of your tub and the roots grow into the water. u just fill your tub up to submerge the bottom half of your net cups untill the roots have a chance to grow down, then you can lower the water level to abolut 2" under the bottom of the net pots
sup ss, I used to use the PH drop style tester but over time i figured out that my Nutes automatically PH the water for me. the ph out of my tap water is about 7 PH but once i put my nutes it the PH goes down to the proper level. I was debating getting a PH meter from that same website but never did.

Big P, I just pick up that Hanna Primo TDS/PPM meter you suggested, thanks for the site. I have another question do you also use a PH meter ? if so which one ? Thanks again for the help ~Black SS
Hello Big P, I'm interested in your grow set up, I'm new here and have just been reading up trying to get as much information as i can before I start my first grow. As you know that can be pretty confusing after a while, every one has their own opinion. I was reading and seen that you use GH Flora Series that is what i'm planning on using with a drip irrigation for seeding and veg and then an ebb and flow for flowering. I'm planning on a small grow set up only about 4-6 plants. I also seen the pictures of the 2 liter size buds, that is what i'm trying to achieve. I know it won't be on my first few grows but if your willing to help me out with some of are knowledge i think it my be possible. So any info you can give me on nutes, lights, topping, seed types or anything would be great. And if your not willing to share thank you any ways for giving me a goal to try to achieve. Good luck in your future grows - Black SS
Hey Big P. Just saw that you were replying to that attic grow thread and noticed you hail from the netherlands. Is that true? If so I am coming to the cannabis cup in Nov. Just wondering if you have ever been and what i am in store for.
