Having some difficulty with Area 51 Customer service

I'm having a slow go of it getting some simple answers from the people (or person?) at Area 51. I bought their light based on great reviews, but I just noticed that some of the lenses on the diodes are a bit cockeyed. When I checked to see it they could be popped back into perfect alignment, I noticed that some of the diodes were loose and kind of rattled around a bit. Ironically (and thankfully, everything lights up. The few that are cockeyed are too tightly wedged in the hole -I'm not going to force anything. It just kind of bugs me because it was a fairly expensive light in comparison to some of the other ones out there….

I'm slightly concerned about the problem because they have a written section on their website that explains that the angle of the lens in important so that no light is wasted…etc. Well the lenses in question aren't aligned the way they are intended to be….I'm fairly certain of that.

So I sent some emails to them…but no response has come. And I also noticed they are out of stock on both their lights on their website! And their forum hasn't had a post in months!

I'm worried they might be going out of business or something….I hope that's not the case because one of the reasons I bought from them was their upgrade deal and 5 year warranty!

Anyone know anything? Should I be worried?

Thanks

Give those guys at area 51 a little break and take a look at the onyx grow!

I'm sure either he hasn't gotten to it or maybe even over looked it or possibly for some reason went to the spam folder. I emailed him the other day because one of my fans was intermittently clicking. I always thought it was my clip fan, but noticed it was not just the other day. Anyways he got back to me and is shipping out another fan. This one is still working it was just a concern of mine and he came through. So be patient.

Okay, well that's a relief, I guess!

I'll try to figure out how to take some pictures….although I don't have a great camera. I'll be back in awhile to try and post the pics.

Thanks

All diodes light up…but, as you can see, some of them are skewed one way or another. Most are fine. I obviously can't photograph the fact that some of them are "loose". I'm in Seattle and they are in Virginia or someplace…So maybe some of the things rattled loose on the trip across the country? IDK….The light came packaged very well…no damage to the shipping box at all…but ya never know. To me, it just seems like it wasn't checked very well before it left the factory or whatever. I'm hoping it's no problem to fix it….but I'm not going to make a move until I hear back from them…him…Is it just one guy?

Anyway, I'm hoping to get the tent up and growing asap….I don't want to get in the middle of something and then have a light go out or be wasting electricity lighting the walls or whatever because the lens was all whacky! Know what I mean?

Hmmm...hard to make out anything on a wonky angle...

Silly suggestion coming up...is that screw tightened?

I think Jeff was having some problems with the web site messaging. I bought one of his new lights at the beginning of the month and messaged back and forth with him,he usually responded within 24 hrs.

Agreed. I think once it took 72 hrs around the holidays, then 48. But everything else has been within about a day.

Everybody's busy at times, so be mindful. He'll chim in either here or with you personally. Seems like a good guy thus far. Best of luck man, I'm sure all will be well in the end.

If you look at the 3rd picture….the diode on the right is skewed so much that you can see the right side of it is under the glass and the left side has a gap between the diode and the glass. But I agree, it is difficult to see and photograph properly.

Thanks for the reassurance, guys! I'll wait a few days and hopefully hear back from him soon.

Just got a response! Hopefully, as Jeff explained, it should be an easy fix. All I need to do is loosen the screws a bit and then adjust the lens and then re-tighten. Cool! I hope I can do that easily. We'll see how it goes.

Anyway, I was happy to finally get a response.

Thanks again, everyone.

Jeff makes good led lights but the fact of the matter is that the customer service sucks. i see people worshipping area 51 here and telling the injured party to have patience, why? Did jeff have patience when he was getting paid? no he didn't. He got paid instantly and he was too slow to give the " fix it yourself instructions" on top of it. So much for the limited life time warranty. I have been trying to preorder 2 of the new xgs for a week now. I still haven't gotten a response. Free world wide shipping offer is invalid when i try to enter my address overseas. Should i have more patience? Not this time, i am going for another option. I am going to give my money ( a whole a lot of it too) and this is what i am going to get. Hell no! Neeeeeext!

Look around the forum and it's obvious he has some email issues. Do you think he is just blowing off your super big order? LOL
