FLoJo's Vertical Round 3: Grand Daddy Purps + CO2 = Good Times!

ok, so back by popular demand is round 3 of my vertical grow.

This go around i think i really got it dialed down.. last time i had some crappy clones which i had to rehab, along with gnat and a small mite issues which hindered my progress. I also sacrificed 1/3 of my hydro space for some soil grown plants that were in pots that were a tad bit small.. i also think i didnt quite veg em enough cuz i wanted em to finish a little bit larger.. so anyways

this go round i have made some changes..

first of all i got some beautiful clones, truly pest and disease free, which was very nice.. they started 2 weeks ago at about an inch tall, and now they are between 5 and 8 inches, and i just gave them their first trim job yesterday.

second i went ahead and filled it back up, all hydro this go round since it is my forte, and even added a new 3x3 ebb and flow table in the middle of the floor to take up the floor space.

I added some new fans, I added two on each opposing end of the tower, a wall mounted fan in the middle of the cage, and also added a tower fan near the door.

oh ya and i made a new door out of a tarp, a tarp zipper, a staple gun, and some duct tape (forgot to upload the pic to my computer, ill throw it in next update)

I also took the ducting off my can fan so that it scrubs the air, but at the same time will allow the co2 that settles on the floor to be thrown back up to shower beautifully over my ladies

oh ya that reminds me.. i also got a co2 system

I got a sentinel cppm-1 to monitor my co2 ppm in the room, as well as a cap dual regulator, and 2 co2 tanks. the co2 gets dispensed and shot into the cyclone via a large standing oscillating fan

now as you can see on the ebb and flow tables, there are some dead and weak babies that didnt make it when i was out of town for a few days.. so i replaced the ones in the system with the healthy ones on the table, and now the table is full of death LOL.. sucks but it happens

so i took about 60 clones, which i will take the best 30 or so, and flower them from clone in the ebb and flow system..

the rest of the kiddos i am planning on veggin for about another week to ten days until i can get them about 12-15 inches tall..

right now i am letting my room stay about 80 degrees, res 70 degrees and slowly venting co2 to keep it about 600 ppms constantly.. I know it is a waste of co2 but i am just keeping it like this until i can retrofit an air conditioner at the opening to my room. right now when i seal it up, it gets about 90-95 degrees, water 80 degrees and i want to keep it about 88-92, and 73-75 (res) with full co2 injection once i start flowering..

also forgot to mention that i switched over from hydroton to 6 inch rockwool blocks, and from my gh schedule to the full H&G line, and i am LOVING it.. not only do the plants look fantastic, but it is the cleanest nutrient i have ever used, no salt build up or res cleaning involved, just change it out and its ready to rock. right now my ppm in my nute solution is about 800 ppms and will start at about 1000 when i flower, and bring it up to about 1500, and back down to 1000 before i flush

hope you guys enjoy :blsmoke: comments are welcome and let me know if you have any questions

oh ya, and LoudBlunts, I was looking over that hydro innovations site, and they have some pretty badass little items.. if that icebox really works i think i am going to build a massive air conditioner using the same principle.. i figure if i got an 18 wheeler radiator, an industrial floor flan, and a 1hp chiller.. get a 100 gallon res and chill it to 33 degrees.. man you could keep a room hella cool, and use a shit load less electricity than an air conditioner!! i cant wait to see your results

hell yea bro

i've been plotting my damn self

and yea all their ideas seem cool as fuck and very tech savvy...

makes me think why didnt i think of that

i think imma find me a nice 30-40 gallon res....a square like cylinder one to stuff in my closet and put a 1/2hp chiller on it...lol!

i know man all that shit has just been begging to be made, and they stepped up and did it.. like i said i cant wait to see how it works out for you, because i would love to make a large version.. i know it would produce some amount of humidity but i feel like even with the fan, chiller and pump, plus a dehumidifier, it would still use half the electricity that an ac would use to do the same job.. brilliant!

i hear they also supposed to be coming out with a mini co2 gen for closet and small scale growers!

I love this room. I creeped most of round 1, but missed out on round 2. I will definitely be pulling up a chair on this one. Your shelving setup is awesome and this rounds upgrades should make this one even more marvelous than the last. I learned a great deal from creeping through round 1. Thanks for being a great contributor to this site.

How did you like the smoke from your Train wrecks? My TW girlies (I hope they are girls. I don't know 100%, but they were feminized seeds) are getting flipped tonight after I transplant them. I am excited to finally get out of veg and into the real deal. Also any idea how many days it took to fully mature your TW's? The website I got them from says 55 days.

Labour of love, sir! I am very much the same way. :bigjoint:

Hey FJ, you've gotta nice new grow going and I'm subscribed for sure. I'll be curious to see how you like those 6" RW cubes...same thing I've been using this last round with fairly good results so far. How many plants are you gonna put into that 4'x4' tray ultimately? At what height will they all be ready to flip in that setup, and will you be trellis-ing or wiring them up soon thereafter, or do you wait for some weight? :-P

Is it a 20 plant spread per wall? What's the triangulation going on with your bulbs? One lower and two upper?

Anyway, you and Heath keep taunting me with your super efficient verts. and I'm gonna hafta ante up and evolve out of flattened land...:clap::clap:
