Hi everyone. Just got my beans, gonna paper towel em and put em in a sandwich bag on top of my cable box. Prolly gonna do 3 to start with 2 as back up in case I f-up. Pics of my grow room and pics of my lights and timer attached. I will be adding 4 more lights (eventually 8x 26w 6500k for veg then switching to 8x 26w 2700k for flower) Let me know if you all think 3 plants are a bit ambitious (provided they sprout) in that grow room space. Space is about 6' tall (sliding height space though as you can see) 3' deep 2' wide. I failed geometry though... I do have a small $5 fan to add to that base shelf in the back.

Thanks and hope this will be an exciting ride!

3 is a bit much but it helps ensure you get 1 female, its still possible you could get all males but i'd feel alot better with 3 plants over 2. it looks like you've got a good plan for over top the plants, but with cfls your going to want some side lighting too. I use a mixed spectrum for all stages of growing. for veg 1 2700k for every 2 6500k and for flower 1 6500k for every 2 2700k.

Well they are feminized from Nirvana pretty much ensuring all females yes? They are a mix also so I don't have the slightest clue of what I have but would assume they are indicas... Will take your advice and maybe buy 2 more 6.5k and 2 2.7k for the veg that should do spectrum wise? Will cut down on bulb costs also!

yeah, sounds fine. if they are fem i'd do 2 with that amount of lighting but then again it might be best to have an extra backup like you said just in case something goes wrong. in this case since its a first grow i think 3 would be best for you.

My first grow was using Nirvana fem'd mystery seeds :D I had waaaaaay better luck with Nirvana than .nl or others as far as female/herm ratios with seeds. I think you should be fine ;)

Picture Neighbor 004.jpgPicture Neighbor 005.jpgWell decided to change the germination up a little. My cable box was really hot and I wanted to germ in a way that I did not have to handle the seedlings and since I bought miracle grow moisture control in a pinch the thought of putting a seedling in there was daunting. Read a nifty little thread on here about peat pellets or jiffy pellets. It can be found here: https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/468937-germinating-seedling.html So I go to my local gardening shop and get like 5 of these (11 cents each, they were curious as to what I was growing in the winter). Got em home, wet them and watched them grow. Stuck 2 seeds into the pellets. I wanted to experiment with the Miracle grow also so tried to stick a seed in there but somehow LOST THE FUCKING SEED ON TRANSFER from paper towel to party cup. Got a pillow and was on hands and knees looking for the motherfucker. No luck... LOL down to 4 seeds... So got 2 seeds in Jiffy pellets. Put it in my grow room with 2 26w CFL and one incandescent bulb for heat. Its getting cold here... Bought a thermometer from Walmart and it was reading like 62 so put my portable heater in there on a low setting. Now getting 72 or so with 50% humidity. Did all this on Saturday night. Went out today (Monday) came back and checked on them this evening. Well saw the seed had somehow migrated to the top of one of the jiffy pellets and it had a taproot! Very encouraged... The tap root was horizontal so re arranged it vertically sticking the root downward in the pellet like a spike and covering with peat. Pellets were a bit dry so watered them both and poured off the excess (as per the link above) and will wait sommore! LOL I figure this best because I can place the peat directly in the miracle grow and by time it out grows the peat it will be ready for some nutes which the Miracle Grow Moisture Control already has embedded. This should work in theory...

Thats it for now...

So one looks like its peeking its head thru, the other being stubborn. Took a tablespoon and put a tablespoons water's worth on each. Crude light rigging. I guess we will call this day one of the seedling stage for the one on the left. Hope it continues to reach for the stars. Not going to keep the light too close at this stage but the rigging has bought it a bit closer. Wanted to build a rigging like the one on "buds for less" but with cheap power strips and lots of Y adaptors feel I can get light as close to two plants as he did.

Yeah this is gonna get real ghetto as far as a grow. The rigging is with some twine from Home Depot. There were already some holes in the wood base at the top of the closet that fit some flat head screws I had. So I made a double knot on one and on the other a double knot with a residual loop with just enough space to slide the loop off of the screw when I need to go in for maintenance. Read another post on this site where someone used zip ties for their power strip support, so I went with that idea. Thinking about using my 7.5w drill and going into the sliding wall with another 2 screws and have a second set of lights kind of "wrapping" thru those sliding wall screws in order to shroud the second plant but still anchoring them to the original screws at the top wood base of the closet. That is if the second plant ever sheds its seed cap. Want to help it but I have bad fingers/coordination (I lost a fucking seed mind you) and will probably rip it apart. The second one is doing lovely though...
