My 4th Run :D }OPEN JOURNAL{

Hi all

In this journal I will be covering my 4th grow.
I ran 3 runs by clones from the first run which was from seeds. I grew Blue Mystic, Papaya, Arjans Haze #2 and Sugar Haze.
I got a Sugar Haze outdoor running but for security reasons it will not be covered.

Currently I'm starting over from seeds.
In 7 litre pots (and a 9 litre pot for the lemon skunk) I have:
3x Blue Mystic - They are the only ones that aren't feminized.
1x Lemon Skunk
1x TrainWreck
1x Cheese
1x White Rhino
1x Great White Shark

Which gives a total of 8 plants.

I germ and clone under a 18W \ 45W (depends on the stage) CFL that goes 24/0 in a PC case.
The main grow is in a room\tent which measures 1m wide, 1.6m deep and 2.3m high.
My main light is a 400w Philips Green Power in a Cool Tube working 18/6.
Ventilation is by a single 560 m2ph vent and in a few days a revolving 14" fan will be added.

Nutrients are most of the BioBizz array.
I grow in soil with some styrofoam for drainage mixed with guano powder.

I got a drippers system ready as well if needed. Right now it is not needed.

Temps are really high - around 34C all day.
Should decrease in a few weaks as summer fades.

Most of the plants have sprouted at the 25th of august. the GWS and TW have sprouted at the 4th of September.

The plan for now is to top them up when they reach the 5 full nodes mark and clone the tops.
The clones will be the mother plants for later grows.
After 5 more nodes appear I will top both stems again and let the plants grow until the room is filled horizontically. Then they will be put to 12\12.

Moreover, a clone from a blue mystic male and a female (hoping I will get both) will be put together in the pc case to flower together and produce seeds.

My goal is to reach the 300grams mark.

Lets see how much of the plan I can make into reality :D

ANY QUESTIONS, SUGGESTIONS OR CRITICISM IS WELCOME.

Pictures in this post are from the 26/8

You should tag them so we could see what strains they are..
I'll be following your White Rhino closely ;)

The chopped blue straw is the Blue Mystic.
The yellow straw is the Lemon Skunk.
The red straw is the Cheese.
The green straw is the White Rhino.

I switched the BlueMystic straws to full length ones.

I'll add tags on one of the new pictures when I'll post them.

Oddly, the temperture currently is around 37C (!!) inside the room. Its midnight.
They say its 25.6C outside but if feels much hotter.
I hate summer.

Things are going normally.
The PH is off and with the heat stress causing stress. That will be fixed friday morning when they will get their water. (Haven't had to water them for 4 days now if I recall correctly. Thats much different from the every-day watering I got used to at the late flowering of my last run)

BM1 and 2 and the White Rhino have been topped and the tops have been put in Jiffy's to root out. They are tiny and I don't know if they will manage, but I can take the risk :P Better than throwing it away.
The BM1 and 2 clones, if rooting, will be vegging in the pc until roots covering about 40% of their clear cup and put to flowering to determain sex. Hopefully the 3rd BM will join them.

I will post pictures on my next post.

22/09/09 update:
Everything goes fine. the plants seems to be getting over the stress step by step.
Growth speed is normal.

The BlueMystic seeds shows VERY different growing patterns. All topped, one is sativa-like - narrow leaves and lots of space between the leaves.
the second is REALLY bushy - its width is about 3 times its height.
the third is somewhere inbetween.

No signs of sex yet.

The clones I took should root soon.
In a few days I will take the tops off the last 2 plants and try to clone 'em as well.

Thank you Zod :)

My gf took my camera to a vacation so I can't take normal pictures.
now all plants are topped.
one of the BlueMystics, the less compact, is growing real fast - its at the 5th node from the topping already.

Next watering will be the official starting of nutrients giving. Until now I gave the plants nutes only when they seemed to need it. Today I gave most of the plants 2ml of BioBizz BioGrow, they started going pale. But thoes who looked just fine was given only PHed water.

Next watering (which I guess would be on thursday) all plants will be given 2ml of Biobizz BioGrow and hopefully I'll manage to buy a new bottle of Alg-A-Mic and give them 1ml each from that. If they will look really nice and healthy they will get 2ml of BioHeaven each as well.

The plants that needs to be made bushier will be topped again when they reach their 5th node mark since the last topping. Some doesn't seem to need that.

I've arranged some bucket covers under 5 of the plants to collect drainage water. I need to find some more of thoes.

And something annoying started - there's something that looks like a fungi of something on the drainage holes of the pots. I had it before and NOTHING happened, but I don't like it at all. I'll probably clean it up as well as possible and hope it doesn't come back. If it does... I'll ignore it :D

Probably won't have much time to attend my plants this week as holidays are coming.

Happy new jewish year and easy Yom Kippur fast everyone :)

First major problem :
The TrainWreck got a serious kink at the lowest part of the stem. until yesterday night a simple tape held it in place, but probably that wasn't enough - today i got to the room and it was droopy and pale.

As an emergency I took it out of the dirt and dug it deeper in so that the soil will hold it in place.
I used a knife to cut some shallow cuts on the part that I submerged, sprayed it with water and put a humidity dome on.
I hope it could feed off the leaves if he can't be fed from the roots and develop some new roots.

I know it will cause a major set-back in times and it will be much smaller than the other ones but not much to do at this point.

beside that - everything is great. the room is starting to fill up nicely. I'm thinking about intentionaly streching the plants for a few centimeters as I have much more space verticaly than horizonticaly.

Update:
The TW wasn't improving at all so when I took a bunch of other clones I pulled it out of the soil and cut its stems and used it as a cutting.
I got 5 cuttings in jiffy pellets that will be hopefully move into dirt when rooted and the TW and 2 Great White Shark cuttings were put in rockwool cubes and will be planted, hopefully, in coco\perlite mix (50\50) using drippers.

The 7 remaining plants are looking good. the White Rhino seems like he wouldn't mind some more N in the mix and it shall get it in a few days when I'll water them.

I took cuttings and topped all the plants again. Except the GWS that I took the cuttings from lower branches that seemed like they were going to be removed in a few weeks because of lack of light penetration. It will be topped later on when it will grow up a bit.

Hopefully a new cab will be built in the next week that will be my veg-room.
I have space for a 40cm wide and 50cm deep cab. The height I have is over 1.5 meters but I really don't think I'll put it all to use.
I got a glass cylinder that could very easly be made into a cool tube.
I just need the wood for that, a drill, a 150W MH light+ballast and some vent and lightproofing for it.

Just finished watering. Gave all the 7 remaining plants about 1.3 liters of water.
Nutrients given are 2-3ml BioGro, 2ml Alg-A-Mic, 2ml Root Juice and to some I gave 1.7ml BioHeaven.
BioBizz nutes.

The pictures added are of the whole canopy, singular pictures of the plants. thoes without the straws shown are the Blue Mystics. I suspect that all the Mystics are males for the moment. I hope i'm very wrong.

The 3 little clones are Sugar Haze. I hate this strain and I grow it just for kicks - 3 clones in 1-1.5 oz cups. They will be flowered in the same cups. Probably with water from the runoff :D

The cuttings in the plastic box are pictured as well. The closed box is how I believe should be a cloning box - all REALLY cloudy.
I hate rockwool, it doesn't close on the stem at all. Jiffy is so much easier to use.
But what the heck, I don't use either that much to care.

Peace & Love :)

Blue Mystic 1 is 100% male.
Blue Mystic 3 is 100% female.
Blue Mystic 2 is 90% male. No cluster formation yet, but the pre-flowering are much more bulb-like than vase-like. plus, the size of the plant should have pulled white hairs out if it was a female.

I'll wait a day or two and see how BM2 goes. if it will show to be male as I suspect he and BM1 will be excecuted.
BM2s clone will be pulled from the jiffy to save a jiffy if it won't root yet.

Update:
well haven't updated for a while.
I took a lot of clones. most of them rooted even though it was around 31C.

i put 4 clones in coco. I will keep 3 of them, not sure which but my pump and drippers are only enough for 3 plants (with 2 drippers each).
I will probably keep the blue mystic clone as I got one in dirt and I want to check whats the difference from earth.

the other ones are in earth. the brown pots are coco.

I use GHE one part GROW fertilizer. It was the cheapest ;P

As you can see the plants are topped regularly.

The 4 clones in the small plastic pots (around 2oz) in the plastic box (used to contain mushrooms) are going to be flowered in thoes containers.
the lanky ones are Sugar Haze. They are crap weed.
the really beutiful one is a Blue mystic MALE.
They will be flowered alone with a few other clones to produce some seeds for future use.

the small clones will be kept to grow naturally while the large ones will be topped.
hopefuly they will all get to the same height and then flowered.

the small plants get 2ml of root juice and a few drops of biogrow and they are in earth from the pot of a male I had so it has some leftover ferts in it.
the cups are on plants that still need more humidity as the were just planted.
the large ones get 3.5ml biogrow and 2ml alg a mic.
the 4 plants in the clear cups started on 2ml of biobloom.

Probably forgot a lot of stuff. just ask if you want any info.

the last pictures are cutting that haven't rooted yet.

Update:
Repotted most of the plants.
The coco ones got in 7 liter buckets.
The soil mature ones got in 25 liter buckets.
The mothers to become got in 2 liter pots.
The big new Blue Mystic clone stayed in the 7l but got filled up with soil.

I got drippers running for the cocos at 250ml of solution (which is in the blue bucket) once a day for now.

Things get REALLY crowded in there. I should finish up the mothers closet to get some space.

Comments are welcome ;D

quick update:

had a severe tobacco aphids attack which have ended today by the help of some local pesterside i got that is ment for fields. ultra-hardcore chemical stuff.
it had to be sprayed so the leaves doesn't look good. and the aphids didn't help either.

I will be spraying again in a few days with water and light emount of veg fertilizer to rinse that nasty shit away.

I'm working on getting a closet for my mothers.

I've watered the 25l pots with 5ml of BioGrow and 2ml of Root juice, and the smaller ones got clean water.
The coco plants get the same stuff, only twice as much - 250ml TWICE a day. I should get a bigger rez.

The plants get HUGE but its too hot to flower them.
I guess i'll screen em up to maximize stuff.

update time :D

got a veg closet up and running. it is 99.9% air and light proof.

limited by space to a square meter to help organizing things. Plants beyond that space just don't get enough light.

Got the bottom growth off, took cutting etc. etc.

anyway, today I made the flip to 12\12 so I thought it requiers an update :D

The coco plants exceed by far my expectation. You can see in the closer shot the top right plant has some HUGE leaves. its in coco and a MONTH YOUNGER than the plants surrounding it.
I will grow my next run entirly in coco as it seems.

one more thing I like is the 25l buckets. I only need to water around once a week. VERY CONVINIENT compared to my last grow that needed watering once or twice a day.
