There's really a real world case study you can look at. Wayne Co MI where I grew up was very pro-union, pro-government, pro-regulations, anti-rich. Right next door is Oakland Co MI which 60 years ago was a refuge for those who didn't believe that way. I was fortunate enough to be in Wayne Co while they could still borrow money and fortunate enough to leave before the shoe fell. These are bordering counties that for the past 60 years have taken different paths. The money left Wayne Co and is now in Oakland. So are the jobs. It's sad really, but looked at in a vacuum, you can see the difference in philosophies and what happens over decades when put in practice. Detroit was once one of the richest cities in the world. In my teens and 20's I thought like you. Life's lessons of growing up in a liberal land next to a conservative land showed which work and which don't.

I'm sure you'll disagree, but can you provide any other case studies to back up your point? I've tried.
