input on growing medium for Autos

I'm just wanting an idea of what people are using to great success as growing mediums for autos as I am looking to grow a few and would like something to go off of this would be a first time auto grow for myself and would like to have good success all info is welcome :)

i use about a 1/1/1 ratio of perlite organic soil and coco
+ worm castings vermiculite and dolomite lime

Thank you for the info sounds well balanced what would you say makes you keep using the same medium time after time ? What traits do you like about using this medium compared to other organic ?

holds water but drains
easily re-used with a bit of ammendments
and success would be the key factor

Ya success is always the key lol that's why I asked what people are using to great success that way I can dissect every ingredient people are using maybe see if a different combo would allow better root development, better yield, and all around better plant in the long run :D

perlite added to the medium no matter what it is helps
coco by its self is actually had to get a autoflower to act right in
i add perlite to just plain coco sometimes if its all i have
highly aerated soil is the key
to be able to hold moisture but not hold water if that makes any sense
something that dries out fairly fast seeing how auto's prefer it to dry up a bit between waterings
not bone dry but not far from it

I have great success with photo strains in organic soils only with a mix of organic soil at around 45% ,perlite 45% and 10% for vermiculite. Key is to keep "moist" like damp but not so much wet. I've just started 4 of my own autos in this mix myself seeing how good results I have got with my photos.

Sounds like you are in the PACNW? I love : http://blackgold.bz/products/?id=62

You can get this at FredMeyer. I blend nothing with this as the composition seams spot-on for my girls (I grow in fabric pots). I put my pants on a typical feeding schedule once they are past their seedling stage. Not your cheapest soil...but not too bad...2cubic feet for 11-12bucks I think. I do not re-use the soil for additional auto grows -- I re-purpose for other plant needs around the house.

I have a question: Why have perlite and vermiculite..? Don't get me wrong, I have used both, and wouldn't make a soil without one, just
curious why someone would add both..?

Yep pacific NW. I thank all of you for your input and info
Hurray another local grower!

Anyways I use Fox Farms Ocean forest, and wish I had added like 20% perlite. Even still, my skunk mass auto is on day 17 and is looking rather healthy IMO. Listen to what tek says though, he's turned into my go to guy for all my questions about autos! :peace:

Anyone have experience with autos in DWC?
There's a guy name Tavidude on here, and I'm pretty sure if I remember right that he grew a bunch of Dutch passions think different and pulled like 5 pounds from I think 9 plants. Just search think different in the search bar and you might have some luck finding his grow.
