Im on my second ever grow, first time with autos. Pleasantly surprised how well its going, this girl is 49 days from sprout and i think i am in the chop window? Im struggling to get a read on the tricomes but im seeing clear /milky? Im just trying to gauge when to do a little flush as i have quite a bit of salt build up..

I can afford to chop this slightly earlier than i would ordinarily as i want to move another into this tent soon …

Am i good to flush it in next few days and potentially chop her next weekend on what would be day 56/57 ( website said 60 dayer)

Thanks IMG_6060.jpegIMG_6058.jpegIMG_6057.jpegIMG_6047.jpeg

What makes the second planting grow better? Can you give tips?

Just learning from mistakes , keep control of the environment for each stage of growth, for me drying is the hardest part i am worried about this dry again as temps are 75 and humidity is 45/50

Disregard what the website advertises. Like smoking a brisket, it's done when it's done.

The colas don't look swollen and the last picture doesn't show individual trichomes but if there was a lot of amber, we would see a darker coloration of the mass of trichs.

The best way to tell is to get a loupe and stick your face in the tent. I bought a VIVOSUN 2-Pack 30X 60X loupe for $13 (amazon) and the 60 power lens removes all doubt.

Based the photos, I'd plan on at least a week and don't be surprised if it's two weeks.

No difference between auto vs photo (I've grown both).

Agree with @Thurston 100%. I follow the advice of Bruce Bugbee pretty closely and his perspective is that there's no rationale to flushing unless you've heavily overfertilized your plants.

75° and 45 to 50% - I'd keep the RH out of the 40's. Bud rot needs cool temps and enough RH so that moisture forms on the leaves. You're good at 75 and 50-55% will make sure that transpiration is not so high that the stomata close to reduce water loss.

Need like a month too many white hairs. I wouldnt worry about drying, if you miss the window worse it could be is it dont smell or taste right without the cure. It wont be super harsh and unsmokable.

I had a plant go from under ripe bananas smell and taste to something totally different. Like a berry fruit cup parfait and was a bit smoother. If its harsh theres a good chance its just a harsh smoke, theres lots of them.

2-3 wks is possible, in my opinion you cant tell from photos. My clones can look like they need two weeks but are done like 5 days later. Should be cutting it when its 99% or 100% orange hairs or cutting too soon missing mass and potency and flavor/smell.

Would you advise humidifier set at 60
Ish in lung room?

Yes, 60% is good at 75°.

Keep your temps at about 75 if you can and try to keep RH at about 60% and you should be good to go.

Here's why I say that:

Below is a screenshot of a vapor pressure deficit ("VPD"). VPD (more here) is one number to describe a range of temperature and RH combination which is like the "Feels like" temperature for humans. It's a vapor pressure deficit because it's the difference between (the deficit) the water pressure in a leaf, which is pretty much full of water, and the amount of water in the air. If it's hot and dry, there's not a lot of water in the air so the plant will give off more water.

For cannabis in flower, the optimal VPD is 1.2 to 1.5. At 75°, an RH of 60% is a VPD of 1.4 which is right in the optimal range.

When VPD increases, which forces the plant to give off more water, that means that more water is being taken up by the plant so you'll have to water more often. When you water more often, more nutrients will flow into the plant (90% of fertilizer is taken up in the water that the roots absorb) so you'll want to watch out for nutrient imbalances. That's why it's common for growers to drop EC late in flower, though soil is less sensitive than hydro .

You'll see that there's a value of -2 in the "temperature adjustment" in the upper right corner of the graphic. -2 is a pretty common value but it you've got a lot of fans blowing, the "leaf temperature offset" could be higher. For my most recent grow, I had fans under the canopy, aiming up into the canopy and my offset was -5. Leaf temperature offset is measured using an IR thermometer.

If you want to nail VPD, AC Infinity makes an excellent multipurpose thermometer that even reads VPD for you.

VPD is important but other things on the priority list are getting temps and RH stable, learning how to water the right way (soil), getting good ventilation, providing adequate nutrients to the plants, and, my biggest hobby horse which is giving your grows lots of light. Seeing that this is grow #2 for you, you've got a lot of the things under your belt so you might want to look behind the curtain on VPD.

I've attached a graphic about the parameters of the grow environment that was really helpful to me in getting my grow environment set up.
