timers???

I need to buy a timer to start my 12/12 for flowering my first grow. can anyone point me in the right direction where i can find good timers. i dont mind spendin money for quality

any will do just make sure they can handel the amp raitings, but i use general hydro ones anyway, has 2 plugs!

Importance of a ground plug when using power strips? I feel its WAY unsafe using a power strip on a timer without a ground, even if your under the amp/watt drawing power of the timer. any thoughts?

go to manardes get 2 heavy duty timers . the reason for 2 is just incase your main timer dies. then you have a back up.you don't want to be half way through flowering then have your timmer take a shit on you then mess up your whole grow.

Yeah man definately buy 2 and make sure they are decent ones... i had 2 cheap ones.. Both decided to die due to their crap make and nothing to do with overloading from too much power. After reading many posts on here about plants going Hermie i was crapping myself.. Fortunately none of my plants did go hermie and am drying my first batch now..

I echo the comments about spending the money on a timer. I got a cheapo one off eBay. It was constantly screwing up. I'd go to my room and the light would be off when it should be on. I ditched it and spent some proper money on a timer. It hasn't let me down yet.

yes do not buy a timer without a ground as well sorry. But this shouldnt b a prob, i saw most of the quility timers had them. Just make sure your power strip/cord whatever your using has one too

Im just getting multipul sources. My roomie wants to take the easy/cheap way out, and i want just whats right... IE not plugging a power strip into a cheap timer by connecter that leaves out the ground. So thanks for re-asuring my thoughts.

So i assume im also correct in saying NOT TO OVERLOAD! IE do not exceed aloted amps/volts, ect...

I had BIG timer trouble. Bought two different kinds (both with nuetral line) one was Timex, and the other was some knock off brand..... THEY BOTH SUCKED!!! They would turn off one hour, then on for an hour, on and off for 18 hours. (This was during my testing of them, they weren't installed) I am a smart guy, and I can set a timer. I went to PETSMART and bought one of their timers for 8 bucks. Thing is flawless. I bought the single unit, but they also sell (wish I bought it) a power strip/surge protector with two timers on each end and two "non-timed" for keeping your tank filter on (in this case ventilation system) with a insaine total of outlets (~12). Keep in mind when dealing with growing systems you have to watch how much electricity your pulling, but some tank systems pull as much energy as a small grow.

I can't say if digital timers are better than mechanical, but I use only mechanical and no problems. One of them is the kind that you put the little tabs in for the on-off time, and one is the kind that has little switches in 15-minute increments all the way around. I like the one with the little switches better, nothing to lose or fall out of the timer.

I had the tabs and lost em (in an old timer). I like the switch one too.

go with a grounded analog,,, digital is sketchy,, analog you have piece of mind that you didnt get bumped or something and changed... my first day with my new digital programmer i "accidentally" set a second schedule but didnt know it and the lights came back on at midnight (the default time) 4 hours in to the dark cycle... talk about motherfucking light pollution! bad experience..... i didnt even need a timer that had multiple programming capabilities. 12 on 12 off every day,, pretty fucking simple i think the analog can handle it
