125 watt cfl for grow

Hi, Just wondering if anyones had any experience using a single 125 watt cfl for growing. Would it be effective? Do the cfls take longer to make your plants flower compared to a hps? or produce smaller buds?

Thanks.

Ok yh HPS'S are better for produceing fat buds
but the cost evens it out a little .
Envirolites are becoming a more and more popular alternative to HID lighting. They are effective, energy saving, reliable

Like a 30w clf has 2000 Lumen intensity (so it cant penetrate the bud deep enough thats why you get reli small buds)
125w Envirolite cfl 12000 Lumen intensity (Envirolites can penetrate bud ok still not great but still with more light it will)
a 400w hps has around 55000 Lumen intensity (hps will penetrate bud great up to 10 ft away)

How many plants you want to grow? All you have to do is check out pics of HPS versus CFL.

HPS canes overs CFL. I am growing CFL by the way, because my current set up wont allow for the heat produced by a HPS light.

Yes that light would work. But more lights would be better. If your plant gets very tall and you have that one 125 watts light above it, the bottom 3/4 of the plant wont get too much light. If your plant is short and bushy that one light might do the trick
Read the growFAQ, and the part about light proximity.
You decide when the plant will flower, not the lights lol. You can flower anytime you want by switching to 12/12/ lighting. People say the buds are less dense with CFLs, but they don't have to be. With good lumens and good proximity you can grow very nice buds with cfls. Useing lots of reflective material to maximize your CFL light helps too. I'm no pro, so we'll see what the others say.
Best of luck!

LOL yh a hps is better only for flowering lol the 125w cfl will be better for VEGGING .
but like i said the bud which is lost is gained from cost of bill
here a cfl pic

1 x 125w will grow 3 plants but its best to get 2 x 125watters and that will grow 4-6 plants

Well i only want to grow a couple of plants at a time. So would the 125 watt be more than ideal for that? Im going to set this up in a closet. I feel any hps setup in closet would be to extreme and a waste on two plants. Would i be right?

3 Plants!! Shit, I thought it was like 1 plant at the most. I know 125W are used for clones and seedlings (like up to 2 weeks).

Oh well I feel better about my set up now.

yh if your only gonna do 2 plants go for 1 x 125w cfl and 1 or 2 42w cfl
and you will be good for flowering.

lol no its only that 125w cfls are better than a hps durning VEGGING not FLOWERING
and the new 125w bulbs are better than the older ones they now double the lumens to 12000 not 6000

When you say the 125w cfls are better than a hps durning VEGGING not FLOWERING Can the cfls still be good during flowering if the bulbs are changed to the 2700K GES that put out red light like a hps lamp?

The lamp im looking at: Switched on Gardener

Ok first thing is yh a hps is 2000 kevlin(K) and 6400k is better for vegging .
and like i said if you buy one 125w 6400k and 2 x 42w 2700k thats will be good for around 3 plants

I was thinking 1 125w 2700k for flowering. Will that be ok?
