I love to shoot and am a good shot.
Grew up shooting rabbits, coons, squirrels, birds, out in the woods.
Never really planned out a hunting trip but went for ducks on public hunting land once. Wasn't much but luckily I stumbled upon a ruffled grouse and that made the trip for me. Best tasting bird I have ever had. Tasted better than chicken (I didn't think that was possible). I rubbed it in butter and herbs and roasted it in the oven while basting it with butter. Been craving grouse for three years now lol.
Shot it with my benelli black eagle 1
Learned to shoot on a 1927 mossberg bolt action .22 that my dad gave me.
If you want to teach someone how to make a shot count, let them learn with a bolt action.
Also I may have shot a record raccoon once. No pictures because I was young but the thing had been sneaking in dog doors and garages through out the neighborhood. It had been eating dog food for a long time because this thing was HUGE and fat as hell. I would say easily 50 lbs+
After my dogs chased it out the garage one night and tree's it my brother shined the flashlight on it and I got it between the eyes.
I was maybe 14 and had to put a garbage can over it until morning because I couldn't figure out how to lift it. Next morning with help from my brother and a snow shovel, we threw it away
If I had been taught how to skin an animal I would have made a sombrero of a coon cap!
