Alright - i'll try to help - don't want to see anyone going down hard.
to your point about people being shot in old wars - doctors have been around since ancient times - long before there were firearms and their techniques have improved since then (for the most part). It ain't magic cause unlike magic - medicine actually works the majority of the time - provided the diagnosis is correct. so hopefully that alleviates some of your fear or mistrust of going to the hospital
as for the insurance - if you plan on paying go and work something out - if you don't plan on paying or can't - go to the emergency room and try to get away with giving fake information (name/address/phone/emergency contact/etc..)
yeah it is a drag but if your condition deteriorates it will be A LOT more money and A LOT more time spent at the hospital.
a little pain in the ass now - vs. a huge pain in the ass in the future.
