Hey guys!

I've been posting my grow journal for two months here, but I JUST finished trimming my crop a few minutes ago and thought I should share the joy of my first grow ever here on the harvesting/curing forum.

I was growing six plants (3 Dream Star and 3 Purple Kush) under a 400 W HPS and 8 4' T5.

The final weight in:

Dream Star: 356 + 326 + 269 = 951 g = 33.5 oz

Purple Kush: 279 + 390 + 286 = 955 g = 33.6 oz

Total weight (WET) = 1906 grams = 67.2 oz = 4 lb 3 oz

Come check out my journal for more pics and videos!

Happy Growing,
Japonicus

Over 4 lb of goodness

That was your first grow?! Very nice job man. I have to say usually I'm not a huge fan of purple strains, but I think Purple Kush may be in my top 5 all time. Very nice choice of strain and an even better job growing it. +rep!

How long did you veg them and how long did it take for the kush plants to fully once you switched the photoperiod to 12/12?

very good job!

when i know the wet weight, i figure i'll end up with more than 1/3 rd of the weight weight but not close to 1/2 of it so stop drooling! your weight also includes big cola holding stems. so you have to cut a some weight out for those too.

6 plants, more than a pound under a 400 Watt? impressive! :)

Thanks, man. Yeah, it is my first grow ever. I've done some orchids and other exotic plants for hobby before, though. As soon as I moved from east coast to here in CA, I was like "I'm getting the card!"

I vegged for about 5 weeks. After 12/12 my harvest day was on Day 65 (Day 2 of Week 10). I started the detail photo journal on the forum from Day 19 of flowering, so you can see everything I did to them on the record for you to enjoy!

Thanks fatboy! Yeah, I left big stems on each cola for drying, so I'm underestimating to 1/4 to be humble. I used T5 up to the last week of veg and I added 400 HPS ON TOP of that. Those 8 T5 fluoro were supposed to supply another 19,000 lumens with a little over another 400W in the space of tiny 2'x4' grow tent. I wanted to make it as dense as possible to make into a very efficient grow. You'll see how I set it up on my journal. Feel free to click on my signature and check out the set up!

thats a good yield, but did you weigh it with stems still on?because thats alot of weight right there that you wont be keeping.but if you minus about 75% from wet weight( = about 17 0unces ),plus stems and stalks, you'll still be left with a very good yeild.the stuff looks dant too.good job.

Thank. Yeah, I left the stems on for drying so I can hang them instead of drying on a rack. I wanted to keep the buds as pretty as possible. After outside of the buds are dry (I set the timer on the exhaust fan on my grow room, so it ventilates every 120 minutes for 15 minutes to dry slowly), I'll separate those nuggets from the stem and put into jars for curing with hygrometer. I'll weigh in before they go into curing in 5 days.

I just trimmed the buds off the stems of three Dream Star plants (211 grams dry), and the curing has begun. I'm regulating the amount of escaping moisture like this. I can start partially covering the top with the lid piece when the RH gets closer to the target zone. Win!

Nice first grow. Wish mine was like that. Think I got 2 oz dry out of 4 plants. But that was years ago. Keep up the good work

I just trimmed the buds off the stems of PK. It turned out to be 205 grams (7.2 oz).

That means the total dry weight of my first crop from the six plants under 400W HPS and 432W T5 is....

416 grams (= 14.6 oz)! It's exactly 0.5 gram per watt in yield.

7 ounces of goodness in two 1/2 gal mason jar for curing

I'm determined to make the curing PERFECT so I've bought just enough Boveda 65% packets and small hygrometers from Amazon.

Boveda is made for cigar humidor. Inside the water vapor permeable pouch, there is gel of saturated salt water. If the surrounding environment is drier than 65%, the pouch releases water and raise the RH to 65%. If it's wetter, it absorbs water so it stays at 65%. All my jars have been stable around 65-67%, so I put one Boveda in each jar (there are four 1/2 gal jars). Now all I have to do is to watch for the mold and monitor the RH just in case. Awesome. I bet this is how people cure around here in Bay Area before selling it to dispensaries.

Whew. I think this is probably the first time ever I don't have to worry about things that could go wrong since I started the grow 3 months ago - I can really relax and wait till the flavor and aroma come out. AND I can sleep without that sound of the exhaust fan!

Cheers,
Japonicus
