My ID expired recently and I was having a hard time buying cigs. I asked the girl why the expiration mattered as it was obviously a state document that had my birth date on it, and was valid last week. She said it could be fake. I asked her, if she were going to make a fake ID, would she use an expired date? She thought about it and then sold me the smokes. Of course that may have been because she sold them to me about a 1000 times before. Cigarette laws are among the most ignorant and ineffective. When I was 16 it was no problem to get my hands on a pack. Now that im legal age, it's a nightmare.

When I was underage I tried to go into a bar in Georgetown VA with a someone's ID that looked nothing like me. The bouncer didn't notice that it wasn't me in the picture, but ran it through a machine and it was expired. He didn't let me in cause of that, but gave me the ID back and apoligised. It was pretty funny. I went to the bar next door and they let me right in.
