My reservoir temps stay at 65-69 degrees for a good 7 days the temp basically stays at what ever temp I set it at with ice bottles.. If I start it at 68 degrees it doesnt move much for a good week.

Please stand up and tell the class how much your PH fluctuates as a result of your stable temps Mr BeaverHuntr !?

The only reason my rez temps go up I think is because my air pumps get somewhat hot. I have thought of different ways to use the cold air intake on the air pump, but not sure where to put it. I thought about looping it around my ice bottles that are in the tub, but that doesnt make sense from a heat in heat out stand point. I dont want to use any more bottles, Im at an easy amount now with 1 trip up the stairs.

I read that someone put it in their AC vent, but I have central and it really doesnt run often in that room. I think Ill just have to live with replacing bottles every two to three days. The one thing I can say is that even using a high end cooler, or with all the little additions is sure beats the heck out of a res cooler that not only is expensive, but is electric and can malfunction leaving you up a creek.

DWC COOLER RES all the way!

Set a cooler with frozen bottles and run your air hose through it, it will cool it just because of the ambient air temp.

You're right WT, the bottles are economical.

And Weedler is dead on too. The ambient air temps are constant therefore so are the parts of the hose within the cooler, so the incoming air will be cooled a little.
If you place the pump out of direct light, it will make a big difference as well.
Mine started out ON TOP of my hood, then once my girls got long legs, the pumps went under the shade of the canopy where ambient air temps are 73F.

I thought about mounting my pumps up to 10 feet from my lights, but I am afraid I may loose power through the hose. This would allow me to get them to a cooler side of the room, out of the lights, etc. Its a minor issue though.

One other very important thing to mention about the coolers. Dissolved oxygen levels increase fairly dramatically as temperature falls. there is a big DECREASE in dissolved oxygen levels once nutrient and mineral rich water goes about about 75 degrees. This is true with all water, but is more drastic in water heavy in salts (like your rez with CALMAG). Keeping your water cool helps your plants breath more.

At 10ft, I'm sure you'll lose some pressure.
Test it and see how much is lost, if any. Run hose from one pump at 5ft and another hose and pump at 10ft.

Very true about the dissolved oxygen and water temps too !

Alright guys ... this is what I have so far. Just waiting for some more cash so I can finalize my setup. The small cooler is going to be my bubble cloner. As of now I only have one cloning site in it, but I will be adding 3 more once I get more neoprene inserts. As for the team jug, it seems like I am going a different route than most. Most of you guys seem to be using a small net pot ... I opted for the large bucket top so the roots could have more hydroton area to spread around and do as they please. I also wanted to use this bucket top so I could put a flexible aeration hose at the bottom of it. This way the bottom of the hydroton will be bubbling, as well as the bubble disc at the bottom of the cooler -- It can't hurt to have good aeration! Tell me what you guys think! I can't wait to dive into this project... I have a feeling it will be more fun than past soil grows...

+ rep for that nice home you made for your girls.
Appreciate the rep. I rarely post on here, but like to contribute or help out when I can. I'm thinking about just doing one massive plant under a 600w hps using GH Lucas Formula and some Bud Candy once in flower. I'm still unsure of how I will train the plant, either a ton of topping, or a screen if I can rig something up...

Welcome to the Cooler Club SnugenZ !!
I like what you've done so far !
I went and bought the same square cooler for my new bubble cloner as well, a few weeks ago.
Won't be rigging it up for another 2 months though.

Thanks Flo! I like the DWC crowd -- It seems very chill compared to the CFL sub forum hahahha. What kind of pump will you be using to power your bubble cloner? I am going to try and get away with using a dual outlet 20-60 gallon aquarium pump from wally world that I had laying around from a previous experiment. As for my 5 gallon cooler, I will be going all out (overkill) with the 35w Sunleaves pump @ 950 GPH ...

well im in my 3rd week of flower, about to add a couple more 600w, and a 4x8 tent in december... growing in a 120qt cooler, bought it for like $35 from walmart when it was on sale, picked the tip up from boomer, which came in just the nick of time for me to start my grow... my grow has a shit ton of pics, and is updated just about daily in one way or another, and pics every few days or so... im a med grower from michigan btw... heres some assorted pics, the one of the cooler and airstones isnt correct, i added twice and many pumps and stoned and ended up with 16x 12" air stones in it... just picked up a 45 pint dehumidifier the other night, though humidity isnt too bad, i just dont like variables goin out of control... anyways, heres the pics:

the last few pictures there are of some pruning i did a week ago, it was like a damn jungle... anyways, everyone is more than welcome to drop into my journal and talk shop, critique, or whatever ya want... havent had much time to kick around the forums, work is hectic, and im goin to school full time online... take care all, this buds for you!

edited to add:
the biggest mistake i ever made was making a bubble cloner out of a rubbermaid tote... was a bitch to get lightproof, temps were a bitch to maintain, took a frozen 20oz every day to maintain... already have another cooler in mind for a bubble cloner, and just got another cooler for a veg tent im gonna be making soon...

also, with bubble cloners, physan20 is your best friend for cleaning imho. definitely worth the buy since its not too expensive, and kills the shit out of algae that h2o2 wont touch...

Props Defcom grow looks nice and tite man for sure.
thanks man, really appreciate it... it was definitely a good learning experience. i was lucky in that, when i had a problem i had the funds available to quickly adjust, like finding out my closet with bifold doors was too hot and not suitable, and being able to run out and blow $500 on a tent, vortex fan, and whatnot... i did spend close to a year on here reading and figuring shit out slowly before i jumped in and bought all my shit... took a while to figure out exactly how i wanted to do it, and what would best fit my requirements... best purchase ever was the cooler though lol, its sooo damn easy.
