It should be okay so long as you change the mix every couple of weeks. If you let it go stale and don't clean the lid then the bugs are going to be attracted to the sugar on top of the lid. So, if you change the mix every couple of weeks and keep the lids clean you should be okay.

Tried to answer this in a pm last night, but the site went down. Do you have a lid on your container? There should be a permanent small hole in the lid. You only cover the hole with your finger when you shake the bottle. When you put the bottle back into place, then remove your finger a burst of co2 will be forced from the bottle making a sound like you just opened a can of fizzy pop. After this initial burst, you'll notice bubbles about an inch thick in your bottle. These bubbles are co2, and will be released slowly into your grow area. When the bubbles are gone (a few hours), it's time to shake again.

What?? There are so many people who set up a lot more complex CO2 systems then this. It should be fine.

I just make my wine in the same room with my plants.. the vent hoses off the tanks produce a good amount of co2 for my babies.. same theroy as the sugar water & yeast.. I'm just getting a useable product form it as well.. by adding a little fruit..
this along with good ventalation and plenty of air curculation has always worked for me...
but have also rigged vinagar on a drip over baking soda,.. before I combined the rooms.. it works.. just got to be carefull how you set the drip.. you don't want it to fast.. or you will have a mess..

Talk abotu a mess, just think of what is going to happen if some one mixes vinegar, baking soda and water in a gallon jar, outs a lid on it and shakes it. I'd like to be there to see that one.lol

a freind of mine said to get co2 into his setup cheaply, whenever he had to open a carbonated beverage he would open it in his grow room. worked for him and worth a try

Shame I don't drink carbonated beverages. Do you know those things have the equivalent to 7 teaspoons of sugar in every can.

Your friend should have crazy high blood pressure then lol you know how many cans he would have to open in a closed room during the growing stages to make it work while??? lol If you add co2 make sure fans are off and most people (depending on room size and amount of co2 your pumping) usually fill room for about 15-30 minutes a day then revent the room to get fresh air back in the room.Only benefitial during light periods no good in dark periods.

How much sugar and yeast should I mix with a small grow room. Does it really matter and if I add more then enough will it work better?

I was thinking of getting a say 2 litre bottle with the mix in and then attaching a sprayer to it . Maybe poke a hole near the top to let the excess out then cut the tube of the sprayer so it doesnt go anywhere near the water and spray directly on the leaves, so the fan wont blow it all away. Do you reckon there will be enough co2 in there to make the spray worth while or is it a much slower process of co2 making that the mix does

If you are willing to spend a little bit of money a good CO2 solution is a co2 tank from a paintball gun and a "remote hose" so you can safely discarge the canister. If you grow in a closet you could even drill a hole and use the remote fittings to route the co2 right into the closet.
Here are some links for places to get those tanks, also a good paintball supply sight if you are into paintball.
PMI High Pressure (HP) Remote Coils (for the remote)
CO2 Bottles (for the tanks)
as a side note I would suggest the 20 ounce co2 bottle as they are the cheapest to refill in the long run. You can get the tanks filled at most any place that sells paintball supplies.

Someone posted a seed companie that had a despcrition of this method. The author suggested you put a piece of plastic pipe on the whole and run into another jar with water in it. The reason he gave made sense; 'the air=lock from a piece of clear tubing running into a jar filled with water will keep microbes out and demonstrate the fermentaion is working'. And its kidna cool watching a few bubbles force their way out every so often.
