Mate, a reversal is a reversal. Doesnt matter who physically does it. The Chem 91 S1's from CSI, for example, have quite a few negative reviews. It's all genetics. There's no breeding involved in selfing elite cuts you've sourced.

The Chem crew have floated the idea that the original chem seed was an accidental s1.

Yeah I think they might be right. Which would make the 91 'S1's' actually S2's. And some of the experienced chem growers think the other chems are hybrids. Nspecta himself says the chem 2 had bubblegum terps which is nothing like any of the others. Chem 1 is also wayyy more sativa.

I doubt the CSI just S1'd these plants and started selling seeds.

I believe their S1s are S2s; maybe even S3 or S4.....basically a selection they made from their original reversal; reversed again for a higher percentage of likeable phenos.

If they truly S1'd and started selling seeds; then I urge everyone to S1 their plants because I haven't seen any shitty results.

The chem 91 reviews may be legit....but also; there's a lot of breeders with the Chem 91....do maybe others just had better cuts compared to his?

And I've heard some genetics don't like being S1'd and Chem 91 may be one of those

His s1's are marked as s1's and lines he has worked are marked as selections. You can make his exact same s1's if you have the cuts.

I'm sure every cut s1's differently. Some have high percentage of keepers and others not. But yeah, I would think his cuts are legit as they get from what I've read.

That's part of the reason they think some of the Chem lines are already s1, because they are relatively consistent when selfed.

According to the chem story, yeah it's all bag seed with unknown origin meaning it could be selfed pollen and highly unlikely some unworked landrace.

Youre basing this on 2 seeds? Bro grow out 20. You'll find plenty of junk. Csi himself says theres tons of crap plants in the S1's.

Idk man; the crazy thing to me is I hear about ppl finding junk all the time....I've literally never found a shitty plant in any seedline lol literally no plant I've grown has turned out shitty/disappointing....ppl talk about killing shit plants; I've grown out every plant I've had - deformities and all; and everything has turned out awesome lol

I do; not as often as many on here....but in my short time growing; I literally haven't come across 1 "junk" plant

Ive had more keepers than duds myself. Only a few have gotten the axe, usually only the ones with more balls than a Dicks sporting goods or lacking mildew resistance.

Rising tide raises all the ships. Weed is pretty damn good these days on average compared to 20 years ago for the vast majority of people.

exceptional plants are harder to find with the polyhybridization, bottlenecking, and state laws on plant counts.

That's why I'm all about the journey. If I reach the destination of a small handful of bangers I can rotate in and out, with one true jem, I'll be content, but I love rolling the dice on gear that has promise or mystique.

Setting luck and semantics aside, the fact that you're saying grow 20 fems to find junk and not the opposite is pretty awesome.

Obviously it could have just as easily been the opposite, and there may be better stuff in there, but it's pretty cool how high the average quality is now.

Especially doing it so long I seem to be ahead of the curve on everything. Grew purps before they came back and then sour that’s getting big again. Have to pop seeds to find that new new

S1's are very different from hybrid fems tho. 40-60% will be inferior to the mother. And a lot of them will be junk with mutations from inbreeding.
