Rob Ford is getting a salary paid to him by tax payers money, and is the highest ranking and most representative person in the city (Canada's largest, most populated, most well-known city no less); getting caught for smoking crack should get him instantly shit canned.

Don't be fooled...We have a large number of people that would even give the ugliest American a run for the money in the competition of stupid.
We just don't advertise them as much...except for the entire on-air personalities at SUN News.
I thought that at first...but T.O. is like Quebec; it's a world of its own. As such, if the electorate want a jackass like him on the throne, so be it.
However, I suspect after the dust settles, people will reevaluate their priorities (i.e. media circus vs. POGG*) and likely vote him out, assuming he doesn't swindle the people with reverse psychology (which may yet happen...I can see him and his brother trying to work the media in that manner--cf. their CBC appearance with Mansbridge).

We're seemingly not unique in that some vote against they're own best interests unbeknownst. All the while oblivious to the harms caused to the ones they love - education debt and elderly care come to mind. Tribalism is alive here too.

How sad. The polling station in my area was in a high school gymnasium. My wife and I were the only ones there when we voted. I would have felt better about our society if we had to wait in line for an hour.Yep. Mulligan man strikes again.
