Lol damn I just washed my spoons off that trip I guess. Fish weren't moving. Such a weird year with this late heat. Did see a snapping turtle nest hatching that we found a few months back which was cool. But no fish :( will be trying around here as our run should just start happening soon.

Same shit for me today. Got skunked. 4 hours and not even a nibble. We are right at the end of a heat wave here. The temp different from today to tomorrow is over 12 degree lower.

It was about 103 today. I dont blame them for refusing to do anything.

Lol damn the stripe again.
Fish will be moving soon. First runs will be anytime within the next week or so. Went out before work today. All I caught was the sunrise (oh and a rock bass lmao)

Gotta love the shear beauty. Serenity. There's something about it that just sucks me in and leaves me wanting more. I know I haven't reached enlightenment but doing/seeing/experiencing things like this sure puts me on that path. I think the world could end and I'd have a smile on my face if that's where I was and what I was doing when it went down.

Hey what's everyone using for gear? Any sweet reels/rods you wana show off?
I practically have a fishing store in my basement. Been an avid angler all my life. I fish for multiple species all through the year. Now is walleye and salmon time soon trout and also muskie. Once winter hits it's onto more trout, walleye and panfish: perch, black crappie, bluegill (sometimes pike) on the ice.
I'm a baitcaster guy. Most people know me as baitcaster jj.
I run a Shimano Calcutta 301 TE DC for casting. She's a work horse. Caught hundreds of fish with her. She's boat rashed up a bit but I think that adds character.
I have 2 old Calcutta TE 401'S for muskie and a chronarch for Rando outings when my other reels are in use.
Spinning I run a pflueger president (nothing too fancy I dont spin much)
Float fishing I use my TE DC as it has a digital controller for backlash. It's ultra smooth and you can hit nice long runs with it very effectively on my raven 11'6 custom bait casting float rod
Looking at adding a Calcutta TE DC conquest to the arsenal

I lost soooooo much gear in the fire but i had a Calcutta 301 in left hand was the CTCNQ301A i do believe. Sweet reel for sure. I mainly used it on one of my boat salmon/striper rods. That reel was on MY rod :-). The other guys had pretty good setups to use while on my boat though. For all species we fished for. But Daddy has to have the best one. Right?
I think the best bang for the buck were the older curado 300/301e/ej’s The green ones. The new ones are crap. I usually prefer the low profile reel when casting all day. A couple of them barely made it but are survivors. They got burns on em but still work. The rods they were on were toast.
I’ll prob pick up another pimp ass 300 size Calcutta again sometime soon though.

Nice ya man 301 is left 300 is right shitty about the fire and loosing gear :( yes the old.curados were much better that's why I just bought a chronarch instead. Take a look at the Calcutta conquests.... If you have the cash they are hands down the best reels out there imo

I knew that just kind of worded it real quick lol. I like lefty casting reels. Always felt super stupid going from spinning reels, handles on left, to casting reels on the right. Just weird AF to me but i always have lefty and righty reels for my friends/passengers.
Here’s the two 301e’s i was talking about. I had some ej’s too. But i buy the only real custom balanced power handles that are worth a shit and they’re made by Daves Reels i think it is, for these and they good too. I think the ej’s just had different gearing along with the handle. I put carbon drags in these reels too. Caught allot of big ass fish worked the hell out of the drags lol. Still going.

Nice lamiglass rods
We use lamiglass and rainshadow blanks to make customs
I'm right handed but I fish lefty. I also skate goofy. Everything else right handed...weird ya? Lol when we're trolling most my friends have righty reels and it's like I'm reeling in a square lol.
