You can make a rifle that has the same performance as an AR15 using a 3d printer? I don't think so. That said, you don't make a case against gun control by telling us how easy it is to make one yourself. Why would anybody do that? As you say, those weapons aren't for hunting, they are for mass murder. We already have a mass murder at least every week if not every day not to mention the hundreds more that die to gun violence. We are talking about what to do to reduce that The false logic that the horse is out of the barn so don't do anything is well used and stupid false argument. Mostly because nobody is talking about taking away mass murder weapons, we are talking about putting restrictions on the kind of weapons that can be sold and putting in place better background checks that would take guns away from people deemed too violent to have one. I'm not going to go into my wish list of what I'd like to see other than say that Canada has good system of gun laws and they work there. Why not here?

Regarding @Rob Roy 's stupid post. His post boiled down to the "people pay for a school, they pay for the school's resources and they pay for people to protect kids in those schools from lawless and violent people". I mean, duh, yes people do that and they intend that kids everywhere in all schools are safe from gun-toting assholes. Which is why I called him a idiot.

If you threaten people with force and potentially use guns to ensure those people make a payment for something they didn't make an individual consensual agreement to do, you (singular or plural) are the one using violence.

If you could refute that, you would, but you can't. Which means you can't refute an assertion by a person you've called an idiot. Which means you have been bested by an "idiot".

So while you whine about "gun violence" you also advocate using guns to fund the things you like, but others may not. You love guns.

The Republicans made it a Republican issue, to everyone else it is a safety issue. If people need it to hunt wild hogs, fine let them get a permit to get one. Having a buyback on the rest of these human hunting guns to reduce the number loose is a good thing. Stopping sales of new ones is even better imo. There are too many people in America for the government to send strormtroopers through every house to search for guns, so people can quit worrying about that.

So the good old take a bullshit stance on a issue that is complex like the education system and throw out a 'its failing', which sounds good and you can find some stats here and there about how bad everything is.

But that likely ignores a lot of the good things that our education system has done for our citizens and continues to do.

We have almost 100,000 public schools, 34,000 private schools, and 7,000 universities spread out across our country. Some are poorly run, that kind of thing will happen with people running things in the real world, but the vast majority moves the ball forward for these kids education beyond what their parents could have provided otherwise.

shut the loopholes, stop gun show sales with no background checks, stop sales by private individuals to private individuals...make it a mandatory felony to be in possession of any unregistered firearm.
