I get your testing spectrum but you were given the lights for free to do a fixture side by side right? Once you got the free lights you completely changed what was supposed to happen now it's a spectrum test so at the end of it no one will have any idea how these fixtures perform.
I have to disagree. Simple maths will tell you which one performs better. If they are both receiving the same average PPFD at the same height, then we can work out which spectrum is more efficient. Once we've done that, it's a simple matter of grams per watt to decide which is the more efficient fixture.

A spectrum test can actually tell us a lot more than a simple side-by-side based on watts.

Thanks man.
Hey mate, a couple of interesting things going on there. So at that height it doesn't look like the RGB blends very well, but it doesn't seem to be making much difference would you say?

How's the stretch on that strain compared to other lights? The HGL spectrum has a lot of red in it - and also a fair amount of far red - which seems to promote growth, but also a bit of stretch - as you would expect it to.

Lookin good.

Yeah, uuummhh, uu , mn . Hu!
Gotta be the gnats that were gone n came back twice but are once again gone. Or, its all the blue in the white?
Or a lil of both.
But one thing is fir sure, a, well, you know. View attachment 4356670
If you had a number of plants under the lights and all show that difference you would have a point. But with only one you are not in a position that qualifies you to make any assumption. Science doesn‘t work like that. You need to find an average and remove the outliers first.

Yeah I get that but no one has said what driver hgl uses a couple people defending her but apparently they dont know what driver she uses. If she's using a quality driver cool just say what driver it is and that will shut everyone up. It's pretty reasonable to think she's using low quality drivers growmau5 hacked one of her fixtures you don't see a brand on the driver's but the don't look very good I would prefer a sealed driver. Here's the vid.

Serious question here.
Why don't you put those lights closer? All of them?
You can run all 4 of those 84x at like 8" on that single plant and it would blow up.
Same with the trinity.
Because if anything i want to slow the growth not increase it rn but thats not happening a chance in hell. Its a monster. Still in a 3 gall.
You guys will never get it
I dont want to grow faster then i am. For fucks sake. Im on my ow. Schedule & NoBody tells me what to do in my garden.

Really? You should try running them close for 1 week I bet you will claim some burning or light defeciency like you have before. "I don't want them to grow fast" said no grower ever except hybridway2

is that why she is refusing to use a quality, high efficiency power supply in her new model(s)?

No Meanwell or equivalent driver, not competitive, easy as that.
I don't know man the first experience with Meanwell I had was pretty bad. Some component in the driver blew up after a month and the LEDs were just flashing. No brand is perfect, but I still have plenty of Meanwells that work.

Ya I agree. Doesnt even have to be same height or PPFD, just that PPFD and yield are recorded. Then you can figure SPD effeciency on a g/PPFD basis.

That tangle of fucking wires on the HGL Vs the one or 2 on the HLG is enough for me to make a decision based solely on that. lol. I've been curious about the new HPS CMH bulb out there.

Don't be a pot and call the kettle black.
I have a TBI, and I don't make fun of people's family, publicly anyway.
Asking a scumbag adult who clearly lacks social skills if they have a brain injury is not an insult to all people with brain injuries.

Not being able to interact with other people normally can be a side effect of a brain injury. So it's a valid question.

If you equate asking that question with an insult to all people with brain injuries (I'm sorry if you took it like that BTW), you've totally missed the mark. Mentioning a condition, and asking someone who exhibits symptoms if they suffer from it, is not an insult. It may be considered impolite in "2019 HR department world"...but I dont live in that world.

Even if it was used as an insult, its directed at an adult who needs his behavior corrected. Which is not the same as insulting someones kids.

So your "kettle" analogy is wrong. Because the 2 things are not the same.

(PS...My apology wasnt me being cute. It was sincere because you seem like a solid dude. I have no interest in offending well known members that actually contribute, like you. I am just physically incapable of not defending my position if I think someone misunderstands me, got something wrong, or took something I said as me coming at them sideways when I'm not)

By angling the hgl you are taking advantage of rhe modularity. If the modularity is not going to be an option in the future, it would be prudent to flatten them out so there is not a false benifit given to style.

Agreed, that's why im not pushing any assumptions here. Also why i will do another & better Side by Side with more attention to detail while documenting so everyone can see everything i see as we go. That test will also be done for Stephen whom i feel got the shit end if the stick with the gnats. Only pott to have them. BTW, He did not ask me too nor mention any hard feelings over the matter. Pretty sure he understands that this shit happens in real world grow environments w/ real world distractions & responsibilities.
The other plants that came from under the Trinity may have been finicky at times but are still nice, tight noded bushes & thats w/o any training. Just one topping & some pinching.
If anyone wants to compare these same strains to last veg you can see them in the Bar-8 Thread. So then you'll know about how big they get around this age per strain. Look for SonicFly#1 & #2, GGW#1 & #2, And look at the FuelBomb which was much smaller then this one, vegged under 1/2 n 1/2 MH/Bar-8. It didnt

Was practically strong-Armed into close growing early into this by HGL (jk kindve) & you are right, exactly the results i got on both sides was unhappy plants, both sides were damaged & had to recover.
Editted: did not mean to respond to you. Just got me.

how do you select strains without smelling the flower? just by effect?
I have some sense of smell left, but most strains smell all wrong to me now... exodus being the exception, doesn't smell like cheese to me but like sweet things.
If I can smell anything at all I am doing something right...
Most people's weed I can't smell at all.

I do compensate for it by having a more pronounced mouth feel for the smoke and taste.
This is part of why I enjoy vaping over smoking weed these days, as smoking it, covers 95% of what smell was left.
