UV Suppliment Lighting

couldnt you just use the agromax further away for a shorter amount of time ?
Of course you can still use them. I've seen no damage with 28-30" distance and up to 2h per day and only a bit with 24" and up to 4x 15 minutes the day. With less distance it's almost impossible to not cause damage with these bulbs unless you let it run for only a few minutes.
I've created wide wing reflectors and have made so called superspreaders to reduce the hotspots directly below the bulbs.. No chance! I've burned my girls their asses off and lost almost 20% yield.
My prefered hanging height is 12-14" and I need something I can use in this distance. The pureUV bulbs need twice as much distance and even then one has to be careful to not damage the plants.
So if thats no problem in groom you can still use them.

These are half the price too. 4 for $48.
I wonder if it'd be smarter to just buy a couple T5 2lamp ballasts for $20-30 total and use these Pure Veg+UV instead.
Spectrum looks good. But do the solacure bulbs have a better range in the closer to UV-A 385mm wavelengths? Looks like it still Hits the 285 though right? @Randomblame

SolaCure T8 Super-B lamp.

The T8 Super-B has only the light in the 300-400nm range and very little above 400nm, 35% is UVB and 65% UVA. The Agromax veg + bulb has only ~40% in this range and the rest is visible light.

That's the Arcadia D3 desert spectrum...

..and that's the power veg+..

They all use the same phosphor mix and get their bulbs probably from one and the same manufacturer.

The Solacure bulbs are simply not comparable because they have very low PAR radiation compared to such 10-12% bulbs

So you're saying that the SolaCure is by far the best option?

The agromax guys are IP thieves, they ripped off HLG with a lookalike 550, even named it a 550.
They have a Gorilla tent copy and call it "silverback". They are scum. If anyone on this forum designs something innovative for the community, agromax will likely copy it and undercut you too.

If you think because another company offered 4 led boards, in a frame to cover a very common, 4X4 footprint, is "scummy stealing", you're very wrong. I can think of at least 3 MORE companies that did the same thing.

Also scummy. Seeing them also sell knockoff gorilla grow tents and call them "Silverback tents" just kind of set me off. I would expect as such from an alibaba company but when a US company is doing it, nope. End rant.

It happens. HLG has made boatloads of cash selling their lights at an OBVIOUS overly priced and unnecessary Mark up if another American company can do it for less. Right? Maybe they're not so bad after all?

An exact copy? With the same name? No, not cool. Whatever, not really my battle, just disappointing to see.

We should probably keep the HLG vs Agromax discussion in the other thread, but don't forget it costs a whole bunch less to copy a competitor's design than to innovate the marketplace like HLG has done. Do you really expect for a company to not maximize profit margins to recoup costs incurred to bring a product to the market? Do you expect them to sell their products at cost?

Not at all. Just giving him another perspective.
Also, there @GreeneryBob the other 3 companies I can think of, 2 of them use "550" in the name. It's the right wattage for that size footprint, man.

I'm getting sick of seeing people bash HLG for pricing their lights at a point that allowed them to recoup their R&D costs, regulatory costs and extra costs of manufacturing in the US.

Maybe you should try asking them why they priced their lights the way they did instead of just looking like a jerk saying simple shit like this.
