I can get 50- aluminium 6061 1x⅛x48 flats for $100!!! Would it work at 1050 ma using bxeb-l1120's

@Randomblame you have any suggestions ? Ive noticed you have ALOT of valuable information.

Should really look a little harder before i post... i was sble to find angle aluminum 1x1x⅛x48 for $237(including shipping) for 50 ($3.74/ea)

for about $1400 i can build 3 600 watt bridgelux strip lights

Each fixture would consist of~

16 - BXEB-L1120Z-35E4000-C-B3
1- hlg-600-42a
16 - 1x1x⅛ 4 foot angle aluminum 6061 strips
-14 gauge wire
-thermal paste
4- 1x1x⅛ flat bar to frame together angle strips.
- wago connectors
- 110v plug

Probably forgot something but those are the main components atleast...

I could add 8 more strips per fixture at a later date then drive them with a hlg-320-42 to get my wattage up a bit more...

Yepp, that works. EBgen2 strips can work with the full 1,4A without using any kind of heat sink. You need only something to give them more rigidity. If it removes also some of the generated heat the better.
Here is a test with EBgen1 and even these older ones do not need heat sinks.

Here is a test with EBgen1 and even these older ones do not need heat sinks.

Now one more question... running them at full bore will they be as/more efficient as hlg 288 boards running at full bore ? Cause i see @Or_Gro KILLING it with 8 qb 288's but hes also an incredible grower !

This is just to get the area covered. Once we get settled and a grow in the new house under the belt ill be adding in more strips to make more efficient and up my wattage to 800 watts.

In that case, just use 1/16" angle aluminum then @Zbud94 .
You wanna heatsink them if it's possible. The less heat, the more photons.
Exactly what im thinking bud !! That's absolutely amazing you do not NEED a heatsink at 1400ma will definitely be ordering 1/16 angle or 1/8th flat bar. Let me add it all up see where im at price per fixture. I'll do figures running at
700ma
1050ma
1400ma
And compare.

Gen1 EBs....
1000ma(ish) is the honey spot....

You have mentioned this before. I looked up the driver it was a 48a so the ebs wouldnt work...

But what strips are you talking about that would work with this driver ? That would be cheaper than running the eb gen 2 at 1.4 amps ?

Could i use the 2 foot eb gen 2s ? There 19.5v ? I think thats correct...

One panel, has 23x Gen1 560mm EBs at 700ma, pulls just under 450w...it's 4 feet long, and the strips are 22" wide.
In less than ideal conditions I've brought in 600+ grams, more than once with that rack.
So 1.3-1.5(ish) gpw in my situation.

Those drivers have a knob you can turn to adjust voltage. Like the 36v goes up to just under 40.

Again, there's no way to tune in to that 19-20v range exactly, but I'm sure you could go a little below and get by. Don't quote me on that though... @Randomblame to the rescue?

@Randomblame can confirm this too, but if I'm not mistaken, these gen 2s are gravely under rated on their data sheet and can actually run closer to DOUBLE(2800MA) the current.

LER=331.66 lm/W
Efficiency = 2.55 µmol/J

3500°k has a little higher LER but lower QER but in the end they perform pretty similar.
At 1050mA you would get ~2,4 and at max. current still 2,2μMol/J. So to reach QBv2 efficiency you need to drive them right below 1000mA. To beat QBv2 efficiency you need to run them at 700mA or below.

Just make your drivers remote from the fixture mounted on a board or even better in an enclosure if that's a worry. Waterproof is nice, but $31 vs $170 there's no question which one is use.

Yeap, at nominal current each diode gets only 43,75mA and at max current its 87,5mA. There are 224 diodes on one 4 ft strip, each 14pcs in series 16 times in parallel.
This are the used Bridgelux diodes and as you can see they are 0,2w not 0,5w like LM301b. Their maximum current is maybe 100mA or 120. So, no! 2,8amp would shorten their life time.EBgen.2 at different currents.png
