Switching from soil to coco

For people who grow in coco, will you recommend some good quality nutrients for this type of medium?
I have been growing in soil and I’m wanting to switch things up and experiment/ expand my knowledge of growing and growing experience.
I’ve been using fox farms for soil and FF big 3 nutrients.
I will be using coco, smart pots, prob 2-3 gals smart pots.
Also, any tips/ tricks for growing in this would be greatly appreciated

Following along, I have been considering the same for future grows, I want to atleast try it out, see how i like it compared to soil.

I'm a big fan of Jacks 321 with Fulvic acid. It's super simple and a complete line (meaning it has all macro and micro nutrients) needed for healthy plants. I run full strength from start to finish, whether it's seedlings, newly rooted clones, or mature flowering plants. You don't need to use Fulvic acid as part of the 321 formula, but I like the added benefits of fulvic.

I've used Canna Coco A&B with good results too, but the cost compared to Jacks is significantly higher.

Someone else mentioned Megacrop, which I've personally never used, but it's similar to Jacks being a water soluble powder. There are lots of growers here on RIU that use Megacrop with great success.

With that being said, I suggest Jacks being I've personally used it and can vouch for the quality.

Where did you get your jacks 321 from? I’m looking on amazon, but there are different jacks stuff. I want to make sure I get the right kind

I made this switch. Soooo much better than soil. I am kicking myself for not doing this earlier and listening to what others have suggested. I use FF grow for now with calmag as well. I throw some microbes in there as well. Have not gotten to bloom yet but plan to use ff tiger bloom with a pk booster should I need it.

I purchased my stuff on amazon. I'm looking right now and having a hard time finding the 4lb container that I purchased. All are can find are the large bags, but I linked another website down below that has it in stock

The only other advice I have for you when it comes to coco is to always water with nutrients. When I was growing in soil I'd water every couple days and din't always use nutrients. Lots of times I'd water with nutes 2x in a row, then plain water.

In coco you need to feed every time because it's inert. As long as you're using the Jacks at full strength you'll have zero issues. There's plenty of calcium in the cal-nit and plenty of micros so no need to supplement.

3.6grams per gallon Jacks, 2.4 grams per gallon Cal-Nit, 1.2 grams per gallon Epsom. .40 grams per gallon Fulvic if you choose to use it.

That kinda works out better because I was thinking about using either bluemats/ some drip irrigation system to help with watering lol

So if you want to keep it really simple, go to https://www.dripirrigation.com/ and get yourself setup with a drip system.

I actually called them up and talked to the guy, he helped me out tremendously. We walked through part by part as I put my order in. Essentially all you need is a regulated water drip manifold, and they're like $8. I use the 1GPH model so each line is regulated to 1GPH and I didn't need to cut the tubing to the same length either.

D071 is the part # for the manifold.
T300 is the 1/8'' drip tubing
S047 is the stabilizer stakes
SF005 is the barbed Tee
I don't know the part # for the manifold plugs (for unused lines) but if you call them I'm positive they can tell you.

You'll also need a 1/2'' pvc riser/adapter that you can buy from them or Home Depot, and a water pump + timer.

You'll be all in for under $50 and have a fully functioning watering system that's automated. My advice for you (if you go this direction) is to set the timer on for 2x a day at 30 mins on. That will give your plants (that are in 2-3 gallon smart pots) 1 gallon of water total per day, and you can adjust as needed.
