How to get an extra gallon and more root space in a 5 gal bucket system

When I built my RDWC I wanted to easily be able to control the water level. I'd like the water touching the hydroton until the roots start to show, then have the water level an inch or two below the pot after the roots start to come out. I got this idea from a bucket grow. I was thinking other people could use this also to add water to their existing system. So with this you can raise the net pots up and add a gallon to the bucket and still have the water level where you want it. Just cut the top off of another bucket.

Or you could just use a fill tank to the res and use an Adjustable float valve. Whichvim pretty sure they all are. That allows you to choose any water level you want.

Sure, I guess you could do that to your system. It wouldn't work in my system though, or in DWC. It was meant as kind of a tip on how to add a gallon to a five gallon bucket and still keep the water level below the net pot, no matter the system.

It's a neat trick, I could see possibly doing this if i screw up my schedule and have to keep stuff in my veg system for extra time.

By the looks of it your top feeding your buckets with recycling water , is your rez outside the tent? and how big ? also curious why do you like the water to the bottom of the hydroton.
