Ok so what are people opinion. I just moved and don't have thetheeans to run my 600watt my/hps. I just can't air cool it on my new place. Without that it's just way too hot. I'm looking at timbers 400watt it has 4 100 watt veros. I'm also looking at optic led 4 or 6. This is for a 3x3 tent. I'll admit I have had great results with my mh/hps. But I just can't do the heat any more. Any input would be great. I also like hlg 300watt v2. Im not sure where to turn. Veros, Samsung topbin dioedes. Or cob and some 5 watt dioed that being optic led
Fans dont cool, we have had this discussion here many times, fans simply remove heat or move it around.

To cool a tent you need to bring the room the tent is in to the right temps, you cant put a tent in a hot room and cool it with fans.

I understand that many havent yet learnt all there is but if you keep giving this crap to hps growers were gona burn ya with knowledge.

Some need to work out how to run hid before going on about it being hot, some here have that skill and many are acting like they took broscience in school.

Sorry but has to be said and dealt with because of the sheer amount of new growers that arent getting basic physics 101

:-)

Off the top of my head, I don't think they use any of the green. I'm no scientist though, so I really don't know.
Plants use green, in fact it is the most absorbed spectrum.

One complicated thing is to understand that light is photons and overall a spectrum. No leaf turns away photons :-)

Yea, I’m outa here. This thread sucks. I tried to post my own experiences and to point out both HID and LED have uses. You guys don’t care and just want insult each other... over grow light preference. Pathetic.
We are all old HPS guys and see the potential of where lighting is headed in the future.
Someone mentions papers from NASA? I wouldn't believe a thing they put out. They lied to us about the "moon landings". lol

I actually said the same thing, and that guy couldn't handle it. That's why I said what I did. Scroll up, you'll see I said both led and hps are good for different reasons and people, he kept sayin hps is trash.
That's the reason I say some people need everyone to agree with them led is the best/only way. Otherwise they will know they wasted money. Maybe you missed a few things a few pages back I dunno.

I love my new qb288 v2.
Haven't fired it up yet but I love it lol.

Leaves with 12+ blades may or may not be a good thing IDK.
To commercial growers I suppose it's considered a mutation.

I enjoy big leaves with a large # of blades, they are fun to look at and the smoke is just as good.
About 3 or 4 times a year on RIU a new member will show off a leaf with 12+ blades and I always chat with them and ask about the light they used.
It's never been LED, always hps.

Not saying LED's are not as good (I mean great!).
Just wondering why I haven't seen an LED grow produce big 12+ blade leaves like I've seen under HPS or outdoors.

Not saying LED won't do it and there may be pics out there, I just haven't seen them.
If anyone has grown 12+ blade leaves under LED I would love to see pics.

I know someone that thought the more blades the leaves have, the more thc potency in the plant. It was bro science.

There was a study recently I read that albeit small plants do use some of the green and yellow. It’s not completely useless as people put out. Part of the reason they stated pushing full spectrum leds they realized they were lacking colors that the plants needed.

I don't smoke leaf so, I mainly concentrate on producing flower. There are plenty of leaves to feed the plant besides shading your plant out. But I may be missing something.
For my style of growing, the multiple points of light, spread out over the canopy is giving me consistent flowers, whether in the center or the outside edge. The old "Blurples" gave leds a bad name. Not all of us use that crap. COBs and QB's do grow very good plants.
So do HPS.

Pretty sure that's a strain thing not a light thing. I've had a fair few do it and I think they did it while in veg. And I commonly use led to veg. I wonder if heisenfail saw that coming...

Plants use all photons, because of the shade effect lower leaves absorb green the most.

Please lets not paste more redundant info, light is photons and no photons are refused if receptor sites are free.

PPFD states that if you use 30 green 30 blue and 30 red you will out grow 45 red and 45 blue, thus the sum of the parts are less than the combined.

Now we really start to get into ppfd and light, not like leds did with :-)

Im not sure many are on the same level, i guessed this is why leds sell so well and users belittle everyone else.

You are talking about the "old style" LEDs, not the COBs and QB's. Let's be clear now.

Ok buddy if you remove heat from your tent. Yes it doesn't persay cool. But it makes the temp much more diserable for the plants. Thanks for you input

Definitely strain related.
Easy to do with the right strain.
I lost count of how many times I have done it.
Wish you took pics of the 12 blades under LED.
Just sayin I've seen it countless times under HID or the sun and would like to see a pic of one from an LED grow some day.

It's how you remove the heat, not simply removing the heat. A separate topic is ideal temps for plants. He's right about the grow room temps vs. grow tent temps. I have a ducted de1000whps and my tent runs 75 lights on 71 lights off because my room needs to be 71 to bring the tent to 75. That's how I am cooling it based on my current light setup. If I went to led, dropped some watts, in doing so I'd drop some heat but wouldn't be able to cool it the same way, and have to change my room temps to change my tent temps. Not saying one is better than the other.
