Yes they are a reputable vendor but kits are a waste of money. You will learn absolutely nothing if you pay for pre-sterilized jars. Vendors love selling stuff to lazy people but honestly the recipe for PF cakes is stupid easy and you don't need a PC:
2 cups vermiculite
1 cup water
Mix well and then add in:
1 cup brown rice flour

You probably need to order fresh spore. Monotub grows are not all that much more difficult than brf cakes but if you fuck up it's more devastating a loss due to the higher material cost of spawning to bulk. Of course you also need a pressure cooker to do grain jars.
If you got a PC and have done cakes already search the shroomery for grows from wild bird seed (WBS). You can innoculate WBS with a syringe directly although agar is the standard. This link helped me a lot:

Thanks man! I did not use a pressure cooker but sterilized with a canner basically, as i understood it that was the only need for the pressure cooker? Ill go check out that thread!

Hi Dick~ I just thought I'd stop in and say hi to the other shroom people on the site. I've had great luck with mushrooms com. It's run by one of the oldest hands in the game.

Anybody do PE or stones?

Came back from vacay to find my tub a total mess. Contaminated with trichoderma I believe...pics coming soon. I picked all the shrooms I could before I left and dried them but left the pins. They all grew out and dropped spores; a few of them apparently rotted because nobody picked them and that I think is where the contams began. Oh well got a nice bunch of fruits from that tub.
Luckily I have a second tub that is now colonized. Just started it into fruiting conditions so stay tuned for more boomers y'all

Sclerotia from Ps. Mexicana... Sort of a nutty taste but in the way you'd expect squirrel vomit probably tastes. But you can literally knock up jars of wheat and not do another damn thing for six months, and harvest the stones... or use bags if you don't want to tie up your jars.
Ahh yes sclerotia. Always wondered what they were like. I actually don't mind the taste of fresh shrooms but it's the texture when dried that gets me. That's why I usually opt for sippin on tea instead of direct ingestion. Are the psycho-effects of stones similar to shrooms? Do you put siracha on them? I put that shit on everything....

What's your recipe for tea? Looking for something a little more gut friendly when I get some harvested. I've got 2 popcorn jars going(out of 10, lessons learned) fruited in the jars. First attempt, training wheels you know. I've got one more jar fully colonized I'm going to try outside for shits and giggles. On tap are 10 BRF cakes moving along nicely, just to try the PF tek. Next will be a bulk monotub. I can see this hobby turning into a real rabbit hole.

Growing them is almost as fun as eating them. Tea recipe is as simple as it gets:
I use about 10g dry shrooms per quart; maybe that's about 8-12 decent size fruits if using fresh mushrooms.
Cut them into tiny bits; for dry shrooms I use scissors but you can just crumble it up by hand if using fresh ones
Bring a quart and 1/2 of water to a boil and drop your shrooms in. Add a bit of lemon if desired
Boil your dried shrooms for 20-30 mins or until they turn to mush and drop to the bottom; fresh shrooms only need about 15 mins of boiling or you can even just steep them in cold water overnight
Strain the shrooms through a metal strainer or colander; squeeze off all the good stuff as best you can with a spoon or something. Be sure to get every last drop.
Toss the spent material or eat it; yuck!
Return the strained tea to the stove and add more water if needed; usually you lose some from boiling. reheat until "hot" again and drop in 3 teabags. Squeeze out the teabags and add honey or sugar if desired...I don't tho I like it kind of bitter but some prefer the sweet taste. Store it in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or freeze for indefinite storage. You can also makes ice cubes with it and drop a few in your water whenever you wanna trip out.... enjoy!

Monotub grows are the way go bulk. Lemme know if you need any help. Research no pour agar; it is the best way to start off from spores and easy AF once you got your sterile tek down pat.

Planning ahead here: after the first flush with cakes, how would you recommend proceeding? I've seen conflicting opinions on prepping for later flushes. Some people say dunk and roll, others say dunk but don't roll. Either way should I scrape off the old verm? Also some say to let the cake dry out for several days. What are your thoughts, Dick?
