I bought a "blurple" - what can I expect?

I'm a new grower and I bought my gear already, including a blurple LED light. 450w Meizhi.

My plants are doing great (except for one, which I pulled) so far. Healthy as heck. Perhaps not growing quite as fast as some I have seen in grow journals, but I am not going for the Cannabis Cup.

After reading through the LED threads, I see that I have made a huge mistake (according to many). "Should have gone COB", "you need a QB", etc.

So, is this thing going to grow me some bud, or what? I'd be interested to hear from people who have actually grown with blurples.

Expect a lot of people to talk s***. Yes it is true that more light will give you a bigger yield but that is only if you know what you're doing. Light is just one of the factors. It is possible to get a decent setup without spending thousands of dollars. If that's all you can afford for now go for it. Try it out see if it works 4 you.

That's the plan. I have to at least finish this first grow with the blurple and see how things turn out.

Yield is not at the top of my priority list. Neither is potency. I actually prefer less THC than most people. I do like good flavour and smell, though. And I'm a CBD fan.

It’s not just the light intensity it’s everything the light produces ppfd etc that makes them work well. I’ve used lots of “ high end” burple lights kind, clw, etc I had guys from shops letting me use their demos to run in my rooms they just don’t perform and quiet frankly gives led a bad name.

Yes more of everything light has to offer ppfd par lumens color spectrum blah blah blah the point is the more the better. And not every blurple is built the same I know there are some that are real junk but there are some that are okay but not everybody can afford to go out and buy a Quantum board or $1,000 cob set up so we buy blurple lights. My opinion there's nothing wrong with them they'll grow good bud maybe not as good as a metal halide or high pressure sodium or even a Cobb setup but they're fine for the hobby grower hell it don't much at all for electricity.

I made the switch to vegging under t5 and flowering under hps, and I'll never go back quality and yield can' even compare, Besty advice is get rid of the blurple junk and buy a real light, if youre set on led get a custom built full spectrum panel with Samsung boards

He could have gotten a qb light from hlg pulling similar power for the same price as that burple. Or gotten a cmh which would have rocked the space he’s using.
