I know, i know ,took me a while to take the right pill lol.

Im like , how come farmers in the netherlands arent using advanced nutes or gh lmao I'm OVER it .

The last "botique" nutes im running is RAW from npk (till its gone cause its 70$ for 2 lbs lol)

They at least turned me on to the idea of powders in my res :)

Now im trying to reduce my operating costs and simplify even thinking of takeing 1 rdwc system out of my room so i can do a side by side
Rdwc and simple drain to waste table to see if rdwc is more productive
I LOVE THE WATERFALLS but i hate having my circ pump running 24/7:)

Thanks for stopping in ttystikk
From my understanding base nutes can't be made much cheaper than most the dry guys are selling thier mix. The money saver is really in buying your own biostims and such. I order through alibaba a lot. Thats where I get my Chitosan from. Its like 1000x cheaper than Bud Factor X. Im working with a supplier now to make an enzyme powder simialr to NPKs new one to save some money, its like $50 for 8oz at the hydro store. I use NPK silica which is by far the best Ive used, they sell biogenic silica on alibaba and was thinking of running a side by side. they look REALLY similar. I also think alot of these new silica brands are the "biogenic" silica washed and filtered then sold at concentrate.

I thought about the master blend cause i saw that guy on youtube doing the Kratky method of hydroponics with it and it looked great.

Just got my fertilizers a few days ago

I got the 4-20-39 hemp formula lol

Also got the strawberry formula 8-12-32 for veg

Just switched a couple of systems to the 4-20
So well see how they do

So far i like how nice and CLEAR the nutes are just barely colors the water

Ill check it out

Although i will say since i switched it out for the RAW nutes i think the root growth has slowed but i cant be positive.

I know i was trimming roots everyday and since i switched 3 or 4 days ago they havent gotten long enough to want to trim?

So im wondering if its because of the bio stimulants in the raw nutrients ie the kelp, humic, etc

Ive never tried root trimming intersting, I just let them grow.
Yea its a 3 part fertilizer, so i add in the cal nitrate and epson salts
Im not adding calmag but I have hard water which already has plenty of mag.
I got the exact mix on mg thread be curious on your thoughts!

HI, been searching around, and it seems like Masterblend users tend to use the same formula from start thru bloom. Seems like in bloom, one would use less calcium nitrate during bloom, any opinions?

comparing the two mix options

the 5-11-26 compared to the 4-20-39

if your mixing the 5-11-26 like this for example
per gallon
2 grans calcium nitrate
3 grams mix (5-11-26)
1 grams Epsom

that yields

112 ppm N
38 ppm P
171 ppm K
50 ppm Mg
100 ppm Ca

if you mix the 4-20-39
per gallon

2 grams calcium nitrate
2 grams mix (4-20-39)
1 grams Epsom

that yields
103 ppm N
46 ppm P
171 ppm K
50ppm Mg
100ppm Ca

How does a person come up with individual ppm numbers for each nutrient? Do you work in a lab or is there a formula? Is it only for dry or can you do it to liquid to? Do I need to buy a new shiny thing? thanks

Experience, and a ppm meter help ;)

Although its easy to figure whats going in
Unfortunately its not as easy to figure out what the plant is using up unless you work in a lab

Edit i was being tarded i meant it was easy to find out what each individual part of the nutrient was
But not the individual element ppm
Ie
Cal mag equals
Cal N equals
Chem grow equals
I wouldnt know what the individual salts would be though :)

Actually i think his numbers are a little off any way

Cause 2gr of 4-20
2 gr cal N
and 1.8 gr of mag sul

Come out to like 900 or so ppm :)
At least it does for me ;)

I bookmarked that article to read later but its these numbers i was asking about

112 ppm N
38 ppm P
171 ppm K
50 ppm Mg
100 ppm Ca

a ppm meter doesnt tell you this, not one that I know about.

have you tried shopping kelp4less.com

they've got the enzmes and some of things you mentioned, not sure if its a better price than what your getting it for but its very well priced

as far as silica

the best and cheapest option would be potassium silicate
https://customhydronutrients.com/potassium-silicate-one-pound-32-k2o-528-sio2-p-68.html?cPath=1_60_68&zenid=6da01f141f5212c40c20c25f41386f3f

this for $15 would likely make 50 bottles of silica blast

How's that 4-20-39 working out for you? What ratios are you using with it?
So far its great

Half my room is fucked because i think it got pissed when i switched from the RAW nutes (bio stimulants out the wazoo in there) just wanky monster crop plants ... next run ill be on top of it from the get go with the new stuff.

So far in week 6 i pushed them to 1180 (180 start ppm) x 700 scale

The mix is a few posts above.

So far i really like it a little differnt odor then im used to but not horrible .

I LOVE how CLEAR it is.
Im trying to go by their feed chart but its just way too strong to run like that in RDWC AT least for me in my environment.

Cause i pushed just about to tip burn and im at about half their feed strength atm

Next run i should be more dialed in

So far im a happey camper.

And after the second run ill start tweaking the feed to match whatever strain im working on

I did cut the feed down to
1.5 gr 420
1.5gr cal N
1.25 gr mag sul
And
.5 grams mpk

I will up another .5 gr mpk then start cutting the feed till flush time

Any hints?
