Say, have you seen Doug Jones' voting record so far?
Would you rather be studying Roy Moore's? It was a moral victory, be happy.
It was Alabama.
No constituent, especially none who voted for Jones, you know, black people and women, give a single fuck about some perceived "moral victory". They voted him in office to fix the problems they face, and he's bitchslapped them back with every vote he's given so far. If these are the kinds of Democrats we, as a party, claim some kind of bullshit "moral victory" over, then it's no wonder why they're a dying breed

I don't care about a moral victory, I care about actual legislative victories

Over or under

If Lamb loses, within x hours after the results are posted, either pad or tty will post something about shitty failing democrats must submit to their will.

I'll start the bet at x=24 hours.

Winner gets a deep french kiss from the willing person of their choosing.
I'm glad any Democrat can take it away from a republican.

Kiss me, you fool!

Well said.

It must also be said that more moderate Democrats who can read the handwriting on the wall will be empowered to vote more progressively if there are more Progressives in office.

Therefore, if it takes a not very Progressive Democrat to win in PA's 18th, it's still better than another Republican.

Where Buck and I differ is when it comes to the overall direction of the party rather than winning it's most conservative districts.

Alabama is pretty conservative, you know. He's bound to represent his state, not California.

Which vote did Jones do his black and women constituency wrong? There have only been four votes so your histrionic "every vote" is a bit of a stretch. He voted for:

Actually, the SUSTAIN care act IS something that is regarded as a women's issue.

I don't see how you can claim "bitchslapped" women and minorities. (You used that word just because it gave you a bit of a charge typing it, didn't you? Come on, admit it.)

Conservative, yes. But I don't think he's been tested on women's and minority issues yet. If he were my senator, I'd hate him. He's not. He's an Alabama Senator.

Boy, they got that one right on the nose. Imagine waking up every morning and seeing that battleax next to you. Those strange misshapen eyes, those disapproving and combative eyebrows, that fucked up drawl that can only bring you back to grade school that one year your teacher was a total bitch.

Yuk.

But she is the right person for the job; a consummate opportunist with no independent sense of what is right or wrong. All that matters to her is that her side is winning no matter what the cost. These are dark days.

How's that working out for you?

0 out of how many lately?

Maybe next year.
Lots of Progressives are getting elected across the country. These things take time and the wave is only just beginning to build.

Donald Trump is the best thing to happen to America's Progressive Movement in my lifetime; he gave them as nearly a universally reviled target as it's possible to get in America and it has inspired millions of otherwise politically disinterested citizens to get involved.

These are dark days, indeed. They're also a watershed moment for political change in America.

It's about damned time.

Sure, but what about the 'legislative victories'? That's what I was referring to.

When's the last time we had a legislative victory? 2010?

Who is 'we' and what what would you consider a legislative victory?

Isolated but illuminating incidents have already been putting the way forward.

Represent.us is a Progressive organization focused on increasing political accountability to the voting public.

This article outlines a rogue South Dakota legislature voting to set aside a duly enacted citizen's intuitive to limit corrupt ethics practices and campaign finance activities.

The fight has only just begun. Which side are you on?

Pretty well, progressives are getting elected all across the country because millions of voters feel the same way

What does a moral victory get you? You still don't have universal healthcare, a minimum wage that someone working full time can survive on, affordable college.. And if you don't put up the fight, how do you ever expect anything to change?

Would you rather die on your feet or live on your knees?

True, that

What you are saying is that 2010 was a blow out in terms of legislative wins by the people who support Democratic party policies. You are right. Using health care as an example, we had a major legislative victory by having representatives from a broad base, many of whom did not support universal healthcare. Eventually we managed to pass progressive legislation on healthcare that is still the law of the land but at risk due to Republican failure to fund it according to the agreements in the ACA's bill. You are right that conservative Democrats like Lamb may well prevent passage of universal healthcare coverage but he promises to make the ACA whole.again. Tens of millions of people are at risk of losing coverage. Let's get that program up and running again.

There were many other legislative wins in 2010 -- 36 bills were passed in just 2 1/2 months. Majorities, respect and cooperation matter.

Do you expect these to happen under a Republican Congress?

Who's not putting up a fight? Do you think that win yesterday was easy? Lamb is going to represent a conservative district but with traditional Democratic party values of strong unions, and protecting pensions of union members. He campaigned on local issues that represent his constituency in Washington. Issues important to them like opioid addiction treatment. The ACA is crumbling under maltreatment by Republicans, putting health care coverage at risk for tens of millions and Lamb campaigned on supporting the ACA.

Lamb won by 600 votes while being outspent by more than 3:1 by Republicans. I guess you would say he would have won by more if he had refused DNC and DCC donations to his campaign, leaving him with about $800,000 to fight against a campaign with more than 10 million bucks, much of which came from the Kochs..

You are dreaming if you think a candidate could have won by promising Bernie's policies like free tuition to college students and held up Bernie's healthcare plan that don't have a price tag attached to either. Hell, I don't think I can vote for somebody like that. The PA-13th is not a bastion of California liberals. Even a whiff of that and Lamb would have been roasted alive on Tuesday.

You keep saying that but I sure as hell don't see it in action. Still right wing controlled from what I see.

You should already know those values aren't going to fly in Alabama, but you criticize Doug Jones.

It's not the United States of California.
