Breeding an auto?

3 weeks to 6 weeks into flower so after you see hairs. they hairs ctach pollen you can pollinate all the way up to 6 weeks if you want nothing but fem seeds. or any seeds.. photo or auto.
if using cs you can use just cs on a female and it will make female seeds.. though there is a slight 2-5% chance of hermie.. i dont care what they tell you .
So you are say to start spraying after i see hairs? Thought you wanted to start spraying a week before flip so with an auto that take say 90 days and starts to flower around the 3/4 week area i would start spraying around the two and a half week mark right?

Sort of... they didn't just come out of the blue... botanists have been crossing Russian Ruderalis since the late 70s. It is not a genetic mod thing, just careful breeding with an understanding of Mendelian genetics. For years people thought autos weren't useful until Lowryder hit the scene... Ruderalis wasn't potent enough until the good doctor made his strain. It just became popular in the past ten years or so when Lowryder hit the market, then about 5 years ago there was an EXPLOSION of crosses and stable auto lines and now mostly just femmed autos. Funny, they realized if we have to buy their fem seeds novice growers will have to keep buying from the producers. Reg autos are very hard to find now... breed those so you don't have to order seeds again!

Here's a simple breakdown on the breeding question for you:

AutoXAuto= always auto

Fem AutoXReg Auto= Always Reg Auto, slightly higher chance to get an occasional hermie (depending on how the previous breeder femmed it)

Fem Auto+Colloidal SilverX Fem Auto= Fem Auto

Auto x Photoperiod= always photoperiod. Cross the offspring again and you have a 25% chance of getting an auto in the next generation. Cross two autos from this generation....BOOM! 100% auto seeds from the auto x auto cross.

SO if you cross an auto with a photoperiod, then cross the offspring (F1), then cross the autos from the next generation (F2), you get 100% Auto from that in F3. For a more stable strain and higher odds of consistency you can save some F2 pollen with an F3 female to get more consistent traits across the board in F4. This is called "back crossing" and is a very powerful breeding technique to make truly stable strains.

Look up Mendelian genetics and punnet squares to see how I worked the math on this stuff, but once you learn how you can breed a bit more cleverly and fpget the traits you want, FYI Auto is a recessive trait, photo is dominant.

I hope that helps bud! :)

good stuff

Dihybrid cross. The phenotypes of two independent traits show a 9:3:3:1 ratio in the F2 generation.

In this example, coat color is indicated by B (brown, dominant) or b (white), while tail length is indicated by S (short, dominant) or s (long).

When parents are homozygous for each trait (SSbb and ssBB), their children in the F1 generation are heterozygous at both loci and only show the dominant phenotypes (SsbB).

If the children mate with each other, in the F2 generation all combinations of coat color and tail length occur: 9 are brown/short (purple boxes), 3 are white/short (pink boxes), 3 are brown/long (blue boxes) and 1 is white/long (green box). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mendelian_inheritance)

good luck

thanks for the visual. i learned this years ago, but this pic makes it easier to see.

when ever you can see its a boy or a girl. if its a girl start spraying. if its a boy kill it or leave it to have natural sex

If you have a fem auto you are misting, start misting at 6”. I’ve talked to the TMist peeps. That’s what they recommend and works well.

If you have reg autos, and want fems, then yes you would wait until white hairs show and hit it.

Don’t mean to step on anyone’s toes.

Currently doing that with a BD auto ( HSO ) .... Hit branch with Tmist / Silver Mountain
Mix .... I was low on Tmist and bought a bottle of silver mountain (50ppm).

Tmist sprayer is just right. As soon as she sexed she got blasted ... Once a day .
In about 12 days I got LADYNUTS. ............ I am planning to SELF this plant to keep the seeds ( instead of buying more ). Then use on some other plants ( autos ).

It's pretty easy ... I cut a styrofoam cup to make a COLLAR , like a dog collar ( from the vet ). Place over branch , spray a couple times . One to two times a day .....
Morning and before lights out ....

I've got a few pure auto crosses
Auto ultimate x magnum
Syrup x magnum
I also made some auto x photo seeds
In every auto x photo strain I have made at least 90 percent are auto flowering .the other 10 or so percent are photos but they will flower weeks before normal photos start to flower. I made over 4 different auto x photo strains using a female ghost train haze 1 fem sprayed with colloidal silver as the pollen donor. The photo x autos can make autos up to 5 foot tall. With colloidal silver start spraying as soon as you see the sex and keep spraying twice a day until pollen sacks start to open.
At the moment I'm planting new autos strains to make seeds for a spring crop here in aussie
Strains are
Dinafem xxl auto white widow
Pyramid seeds auto white widow
Buddha syrup auto
Black skull seeds auto diesel matic
Barney's farm auto blue mammoth
Barney's farm auto tangerine dream
Blimburn seeds tangie auto
Big head auto big Stilton
Big Buddha critical mass auto
Will make reg autos using a syrup male and fem autos using a xxl auto ww .
I'll give you an idea on breeding from what I've discovered throughout growing autos over the years.
Auto x photo - 90 percent auto.
(Auto x photo) x photo - 100 percent photo. I've got a couple of auto x photos still out bush there bigger plants and you can grow them using less water then pure photos. Hope that helps .just telling how my grows and breeding programs have turned out.

HSO BD pollen sacs - CS sprayed an auto and began to dust the host plant.
These will be used on some other girls ( GG4 ) .....

Very nice. I managed to pollinate some females yesterday before the rains set in.
Gorilla bomb
Black d.o.g
Critical super silver haze
Ghost train haze 1
Chocolope kush.its good to always have plenty of seeds and strains.

Those pollen sacks will open up by themselves over the next 3 or 4 days big you take a branch of male flowers like them and cut the branch off the next day pollen will be falling out if them.

In the pic the male flowers in the white bag we're harvested over a week ago im still the pollen from them and on the plate the male flowers we're harvested 2 days ago.IMG_20180224_111315.jpg

Phase 2 :

Candy Dream ( 1 gallon grow bag ) flipped two days ago on 12/12.
Will wait for her to sex out then blast whole plant for a " pollen plant "

This strain is a ( Kandy KUSH X Blue Dream ) cut ... Perfect for crossing .
Phenos are variable , some shorter nodes , some a bit more stretchy ...

This one has a tighter node space so I want to use her. Once popping lady nuts she will be moved to mature fully on the plant .

I ran out of Tmist a few runs back so I use Silver Mountain mix ( 50 ppm ) and refill sorayer as needed.

OP, now that you have all those nice auto seeds, you should think about hitting one of the females with some photo pollen. Like bobqp said, most will have the auto trait. You can veg then with long light hours to get better size.
