Using Gibberellic acid on old Seeds?

UPDATE

Planted the Seeds in Time.
Like stated above ^^
At the time I planted the seeds in starting soil, 1 of the reference Seeds had grown a tail. That was @100ppm. Today the first two germinated and smiled out of the soil in my face. Like they try to say "we made it Sir ...whats up with those other Beans"
So its scientificaly proof that the Method at least @100ppm did not kill the seeds. But anyway thats late for this Seeds. In just water they are way faster.

The two Orange Skunk Seeds in plain spring water showed no signs of cracked shell at this point. Seeds looked pale bit like unripe but...
Planted in jiffy those were the first to germinate two days ago. Planted into small pots yesterday night after work.

The BR6 cross
Not one single seed showed signs of cracked shell at the point of planting into starting soil ( same as used for the reference seeds Batch)
No positive signs of serious germination already observed yet.

But being patient. Have seen Seeds starting late before.

Will Update again

If I am lucky and get some Plants out of this experiment I guess I should call the Strain "total brainfuck"

Peace out

Fingers crossed
Nothing new by now.

I think the beans are done ... not one germinated.

Next try will be with some extra enzymes and sugars combined with ga3 and one without... I guess.
But not soon...
Have to work on my this years Gardenfruits like Tomatoes and Peppers a.s.o.

**If anybody can share positive experience with a similar Project, feel free to post it here.

@xtsho
Have fun Bro

Peace out

Watched the video again and found out I missed something.... its not 12 hours soak in the glas jars its 24.
That means....

Step 1
Soak 12h -> check if the Seeds are all sinking down.

Step 2
Let them in the Jars for another 12h

Step 3
Switch to paper towel Method for another 12h using the solution from the Jar.

Step 4
Planting the Seeds in Jiffy's

Thats the plan

Btw.....
All Seeds except one in the 100ppm Solution are down at the bottom of the Jars already.
If my old eyes are right one in the 250ppm looks like he cracked the shell a lil bit. But not 100% sure.

Peace out :peace:

i am about to try some GA3. is the ppm mix just the GA3 and RO water?

thanks

Yes. Thats how I understood it and I made it.

In the Video the germination in 250ppm was higher but after planting he had more sprouts coming from the 100ppm.
His Seeds were 15yr old.
He stated the older the seeds the hiigher you should go in ppm.

So whats your Project?

just trying to pop my older seeds i never got around to growing. have a little more time and space now. have about 20 strains to test.

seeds are 5-10 yrs, some probably older

Haha I see we have similar Problems.
I think its much easier when the seeds were stored airtight and cold.

At least we know that the method will not harm Seeds.
I know its not much....

mine have always been airtight, in mostly cool temps(65-75)

You will have a better chance like me to successfully germinate some of your gear. At least I think so. But no guaratee anyways. You never know how Seeds were stored before you got them, except you made them yourself.

But in my Book you have a good chance Bro!

Btw.
I just germinated 5 of my reference Seeds. Lil experiment...Started at totaly wrong moonphase and let them alone in papertowel for 4 days and I didnt care a rats shit about them.
4 out of 5 made it.

Because of space limits I wasnt able to plant them.... so I ate them. Tasted pretty sweet.

my GA3 came in today, let the experiments begin.

tell me more about the moonphase concept.

Update

Experimented with higher dosage lately.
1500ppm on old Seeds.
No germination.
The reference seeds as usual germinated even in 1500ppm without detectable difference compared to plain water.
No stretchy sprout detected.

So there are two possible thoughts I have...

- GA3is just plain bullshit
Or
- it didnt disolve in the warm water.
Even if I couldnt detect anything left in the water from the powder after a couple of minutes.
That means I have to try disolving it in a very small amount of alc. first.

I will do that next but not sure when I find some extra time next.

I 'll keep you updated

Peace

You need to dissolve the GA3 in alcohol first. It will not dissolve in water easily. It does however dissolve in water eventually.
"GA-3 takes a while to dissolve—overnight if you use cold water. If you are in a hurry, you can use hot water, or you can put the GA-3 powder in the container and add a teaspoon or so of rubbing alcohol. With frequent swirling, it should dissolve in a half-hour or so."

There is quite a bit of information on this page:

There is also a quick dissolve formulation

Thanks Bro for the great information!

I used hot water. Didnt make a difference.

Got me some 96% of medicinal drinking alcohol from the drugstore today.
That means when the moon phase is good for germinating seeds next time, I 'll try the alc. disolved ga3 method. Cant wait to see what happens!

I've had success with germination of old seeds with ga3 .. my seeds were around ten years old(northern lights) I soaked the seeds is a glass of ro water with 200ppm of ga3 after the seeds sank I removed them to plain water , no ga3 for another 24 hours after which I placed them in wet paper towels until I seen signs of life.. out of a dozen or so seeds only five grew.. .. it works but poorly imo.. hopefully you can find something that works and is more stable then ga3.. ive tried lots of old school tips and none worked for me other then ga3 ( poorly imo) I'm rooting for ya ... Ive lost lots of good strains to poor storage (years ago) and now I keep them in several storage containers in a fridge..

nasa's idea one small step ..one giant leap for ....

don't work so well with seeds

but imo...salic acid does wonders

so does scarifying but avoid soaking longer than 8 hours

seeds do drown

seeds do have a tiny amount of water in them

and often are terminal without it

patience

good luck

Hi Bro....
Maaan I am soooo fucki*** pissed off that I could...... some ..... on all that fu...... old Bs !!!!

Used that suuuuper clean alcohol that I bought for 15 bucks from the Apothecary Dude. Hell...!!
... know what? Shit of a bitc*** GA Fucki*** 3 would not even disolve after hours of shacking the fucki*** glas tube I got the Ga3 & alcohol in. That drove me fuck*** angry. Did I mention that I am not very patient?
Ok I checked for the coocking temps of alcohol. My poor mans almanach said something around more than 75* degrees Celsius.
Next I checked the lethal temp for GA3 ... poor mans almanach said somewhat between 200/300 *Celsius.
I took my Lighter and heAted up the glas tube slowly first. First. Didnt work well and took ages.... so I heated it up More... no good idea I found out shortly after my decission. Impatience blew the first tube into dust infront of my impatient face. No worries I was stoned enough to not got hit. After some yoga and a couple of hits from my bong ....Next glastube did the Job ( used the lil ones seeds come in with that lil plastic lid) about 1/5 ga3 and double+ amount alcohol...
... it disolved after sooome time under More careful fire.
I mixed it with about 150 ml spring water ( last time destilled water).
24 hours soaked in ga3 ... followed by papertowel 24hrs.... > half went in jiffys rest in seedling soil. Zero germination.

I have about 20 beans left.
Since the ga3 didnt disolve well in apothecary alc I use rubbing alc next. Maybe merck sold me shitty ga3..dunno.

Maybe use your shedules Bro ^^^

Thanks for the input!!!

Btw I never found any piece of the first glas tube that I blew up other than the plastic lid that was pretty much burned...LoL....So... DONT TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS !!!

Hey Vostock always when I listen to you its like hope is starting in Bro.....

Scarifying ...I did .... zero success

Do you have some Info on that salic acid thing? Never heard of something like that... link?

Peace @ all

Have any sodium hydroxide? I believe there's info some where using that to help disolve ga3... I just used heated water and ga3.. I got mine off of eBay.. from what I understand it doesn't have a long shelf life.. did a combo of scuffed seeds and ga3 and unscuffed seeds in ga3.. problem is I don't remember which of the seeds popped.. this was four years ago..
