They are notorious for electronic and coolant issues. I had 4 vw's. 97 jetta vr6, 97 golf 2.0, 2001 1.8t and a 2004 GLI vr6.

97 Jetta: door ring made Atari sounds when I opened the door. Then all electronics went. Fixed that then coolant started leaking. Blown head gasket. Junked it.

97 golf: went through 3 starters. After clutch blew I sold it for 500

2001 jetta 1.8t: electronics went then it over heated and coolant tank split. Blown head gasket. Not worth the effort to fix it. Junked.

2004 jetta gli: was going down the highway, started smoking like crazy. Over heated and shut off. Steering wheel locked up because the car shut off. Broke the column trying to rip the wheel hard enough to get off the highway.. Blown gasket lol. Destroyed the motor and a few wires melted. Junked it. Because it wasn't even worth the fix.

When jettas run they are awesome cars. If I were to buy another vw it'd be a diesel. I also wouldn't mind an r32 golf. Those are awesome.

I would never buy a high miles vw though ever in my life again. And my highest mileage one was the 2001. It had 105k on it. Same goes with Audi. Basically same cars.

Good luck with your new car lol

Glx? That's what my 97 vr6 was. Had a lot of fun in that car. Fun little 5 speed that really wasn't good on gas. My hemi work truck gets about the same mileage as that did lol. Technology is coming a long way
Yea white glx 2.8 l 12v I love the sound they make
