I don't think it's necessary to throw stuff away.

I use four items; the mix, calcium nitrate, epsom salt and MKP. The ratios of the materials might change between 4-20-39 and 5-11-26 but nothing else will.

@im4satori care to weigh in? You've done some work on the formulas, there is some interest here in using a different formulation, since the old mix has apparently been discontinued.
Thanks,
i didn't get anything yet. I wouldnt throw away good ferts anyhow ;)

I just meant should i get the hobby 10-8-22 for veg.

Then use the 4-20-39 for bloom is what i was asking.

I really appreciate your guys help for sure:)

I'd get the hobby and then add a bit of MKP (monopotassium phosphate) as needed for bloom. Cheaper, easier, more flexible and controllable this way.

comparing the two mix options

the 5-11-26 compared to the 4-20-39

if your mixing the 5-11-26 like this for example
per gallon
2 grans calcium nitrate
3 grams mix (5-11-26)
1 grams Epsom

that yields

112 ppm N
38 ppm P
171 ppm K
50 ppm Mg
100 ppm Ca

if you mix the 4-20-39
per gallon

2 grams calcium nitrate
2 grams mix (4-20-39)
1 grams Epsom

that yields
103 ppm N
46 ppm P
171 ppm K
50ppm Mg
100ppm Ca

mix is used atr a rate of 3grams per gallon vs the 4-20-39 which is used at 2 grams per gallon

therefore you can expect the micro nute amounts and iron to be higher when using the 5-11-26 mix comparatively

another thing id prefer
the 5-11-26 mix is easier to add mkp bloom booster since you can easily drop the 5-11-26 mix portion down to 2 grams and add the mkp which will put your k back to the same place

for example

calcium nitrate 2 grams
2 gram mix (5-11-26)
1 gram Epsom
0.75 grams mpk

108 ppm N
70 ppm P
170 ppm K
42 ppm Mg
100 ppm Ca

you can see this mix provides more P if you so desire it

3 grams jacks pro mix
2 grama calcium nitrate

119 N
41 P
171 K
50 Mg
95 Ca

or if you want the extra P in late bloom

2 grams jacks pro
2 gram calcium nitrate
0.75 grams mkp
0.5 grams epsom

106 N
73 P
170 K
46 Mg
95 Ca

I like using epsom salt for the extra sulphur.
the jacks ends up yielding the same amount of sulfur as the 5-11-26 mix

the Epsom salt is already In the bag of jacks so your still getting the same amount of sulfur either way

jacks
3 grams mix
2 grams calcium nitrate

yields 65ppm sulfur

hydro mix
3 grams mix
2 grams calcium nitrate
1 grams Epsom

yields 65 ppm sulfur

its basically the exact same mix except the jacks already has the Epsom salt in the bag

im sure if you look at the % amounts listed on the bags

the jacks will be the same as the hydro mix 5-11-26 only it (the jacks) will have a higher % of magnesium and sulfur

Hey all, smoke here just trying to pick the brains of those more experienced then myself with DRY NUTES. Ive read old threads so here is a new one.

Im Tired of buying bottled water with nutes in it lol. Not saying bottled nutes suck but im done with hydro store markup.

What im looking for.
DRY.
COLORLESS (or as close to).
Options of adding bio stimulants or running sterile ish.

Would like high quality but not paying for useless artist work on heavy to ship bottles that require multiple supplements. Just sayin

If anyone has opinions on the nutes below please let me know.

Been looking at the chem gro 4-20-39 along with their cal nitrate and mag. And any opinions on hydro gardens chem gro formulas

I wouldnt mind getting all the individual salts to make my own but would like to start with a "base" that smarter people then me put together for now lol

Custom hydronutrients has some masterblend for tomatoes.

Kelp 4 less has some formulas as well but i would like to stay with just salts for the moment without kelp unless i add it. (Although I like kelp )

Hydroponics research veg plus bloom. Let me know.

Green leaf nutrients (already heard its not clear)

Jacks hydroponic mix

Maxibloom ( not too interested i want somthing that larger food producing hydro farms use )

Any other companys that have COMPLETE nutrition in dry SOLUBLE form

Thanks all in advance
if I was you

id get the jacks pro, some calcium nitrate, and some mkp and Epsom salt
per gallon

veg full strength

2.5 grams jacks
2.5 grams calcium nitrate (green house grade yara)
0.5 grasm Epsom

transition full strength (first 2 weeks bloom)
3 grams jacks
2 grams calcium nitrate

bloom
jacks 2 grams
calcium nitrate 2 grams
mkp 0.75 grams
Epsom 0.75 grams

heres how those mix ratios translate into numbers

veg
132 N
35 P
143 K
54 Mg
71 Su
119 Ca (a little high)

transition
119 N
41 P
171 K
50 Mg
65 Su
95 Ca

bloom
106 N
73 P
170 K
52 Mg
Su 68
Ca 95

now
examine the numbers closely

notice how the N slowly drops and the P rises when going from veg to transition to bloom..and the K goes up for all of bloom.... that's about as perfect a ratio as you can get

the calcium, magnesium and sulfur stay about the same

if a person wanted to they could likely get away with feeding the transition formula only for both veg and bloom

comparatively

here are the numbers for GH floranova 1part grow and bloom

bloom at 10mls per gallon

106 N
92 P
154 K
Mg 53
Su 53
Ca 106

grow at 7mls per gallon

132 N
32 P
154 K
28 Mg (low)
37 Su
74 Ca (low)

this grow formula will likely require calmag and Epsom unless you have hard water

add 3mls per gallon calmag and 0.5 grams Epsom salt

145 N (high)
32 P
154 K
50 Mg
53 Su
99 Ca

I've been doing the 2.5g Jack's 2g calcinit and 1g Epsom per gal in veg per Dr. satori's orders.

Rdwc is exploding. Roots have almost filled up the 12gal totes. Getting some weird leaf twisting on new growth. Not sure if it's due to the 1.0EC it's at. Hard to keep up with them. I might have to bump them up to 1.4EC. been doing my usual 1.2EC.
